Blog: New Guitars--Pristine or Relic? Battle Royale!

Re: Blog: New Guitars--Pristine or Relic? Battle Royale!

I would never buy a brand new RELIC guitar, or a guitar that is used that is a RELIC model.

If buying a relic guitar, how could a buyer know if it was new or second-hand ???

If buying a s/h relic, how would the buyer know what condition it was in ???

I think the sandpaper marks are a giveaway.

So, enterprising people could sell roughly-used old beater guitars as new 'relics' and instead of going for a fraction of their original price, they could command a premium, and go for more than a new guitar. Get that sandpaper out baby, and put on some obviously fake wear! This could be big. A whole new industry of 'fake' relics. Fakes of the fakes. People are going to look so stupid who take care of their guitars and keep them in good condition. That's so yesterday.
