i am thinking a baby blue or electric blue pickguard would look good on my black strat. the only ones i can find are in pearloid. i want plain blue. any ideas where to get one?

Man I would suggest trying something different like a red pickguard. People always have cream, white, black on black, etc... I think a black strat with a red pickguard and red pickups would look awesome.

i agree. now to find one that isn't blue jean or pearloid. that is the challenge! must be double humbucker, 2 volume & switch. 11 hole to fit mexi-strat.

Re: blue pickguard for black strat?

Unless you're worried about the vintage/sentimental/trade value of the guitar, I wouldn't worry about the "fit". I've had three different pickguards and all of them had holes that didn't perfectly align with the previous one. You just fill the old holes and re-drill.

Personally, I like red pearloid or tortoise on black.

Agree with Ian about tortoise

Otherwise, take any PG and paint it yourself.

Or you could check out Greasy Groove of Canada. They make somewhere in the vicinity of just under one million different options for pickguards, pickup and switch surrounds and other related guitar trim. Gibson, Epiphone, Fender Strats, Telecasters, P-bass, J-bass.... many more as well.

That's where I got my bizarre turquoise trim kit for my Les Paul. This, by the way, included a custom-cut (just for MEEE) pickup surround that allows me to fit my single-coil Twang Banger straight into the Humbucker slot at the bridge.

I searched for quite a while. Greasy Groove is pretty much the only game in town. So many choices - it bites that it takes so long to switch out some of the pieces - else I'd likely have a multitude of trim laying about. Again - SO many choices - it was a ***** to choose just one. It's odd that no one else has done this before.... they could get away with charging a LOT more than they do.

It's worth a look. My LP is down in Calif w/ my brother right now (he's letting me borrow his authentic Brian May "Black Special"), but I'll bring it home when I'm there at the end of the week.... I'll post a photo or six when I get home.

Greasy Groove. Check it out.
