Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

Re: Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

Would you mind publishing this 'ignore' list you keep mentioning? We're dying of curiosity. Am I at the top? If not, who do I have to bump to get there? :cool2:

Quoted, just in case. :p

Sorry but you aren't that lucky...I won't roll over that easy unless I really dislike somebody....You'll need to work a bit harder....

I may not care for you BM,but some of your posts are educational...Hard to fathom that there are other forum members higher on the list than you.. ;o)

Keep trying..I did do something nice for you and really thought you were a better person than what you turned out to be...But it's ok....I see enough other people chiming in about it also...

It is just a forum and alot of people would stifle their mouths if they were face to face with the other person...

:hijacked:

My seven and eight year old daughters argue less than us beyoches, ha ha! Hey, if the guitars don't cut through at rehearsal on Saturday, I'll rip out the resistors but yeah, at home they sound great and not muddy at all. You guys have to remember that the one guitar has a Floyd, which supposedly makes the guitar brighter, and my Custom...well I've been fighting with that baby for quite awhile. I don't think the 250K pot changed the sound much. It just took off a bit of the treble but the mids and lows seem fatter. It doesn't sound like I just rolled off the tone pot a bit. The guitars sound different to me.

Lower K pots definitely sound different than typical tone control changes. It seems to deemphasize the extreme highs and lows of the pup, which emphasizes themids a bit more. Iveused the Custom, custom 5, jb, pg, and 59 this way. In the right guitar it can definitely be a boon,.for example it worked awesome on the C5/PG combo in my V, but made the Custom/59 a nasty muddy mess in a couple les pauls I tried it in.

Also the tone pot on barney, my old custom usa dean ml went bad not long after i got it. I was surprised to see it was 250k, and the volumes were 500. I had a tech replace it with a 500k tone and it opened up the high end in a way that did not sound good with the pups that were in it. The guitar sounded less in your face, so to speak.

No, I have no earthly idea how to get anything uploaded; the wife knows a little more than me about how to do it, but is not up to date on this stuff. She tried a couple months ago and that didn't work out. I'll have to bug her again.

There are a lot of IT guys on the forum... bbent, rd (I think)....and I bet they would be willing to help you upload a video.

No no! I said "us", not "youse guise" :naughty:

Honeymoon stages? Probably, totally, lol. Saturday will tell, plus I seem to want something different every few months anyway, ha ha! The only guitars I never changed once I did the swap-ins were my fake SG with the Brobucker and Jazz neck, and the Epi Pro/Fx Les Paul with the Super Distortion and Jazz neck. Both of those guitars sound like heaven to my ears, both with all 500K pots, and that's not changing.

Lower K pots definitely sound different than typical tone control changes. It seems to deemphasize the extreme highs and lows of the pup, which emphasizes themids a bit more. That's probably what I'm hearing. I listen for mud, and if that's what I get when I'm with the band, then out they come! I'll tell you, if you heard that Jazz neck though, it was ripping your face off, lol.

Yes! I've tried rolling down 500K's and couldn't get them to sound the same as 250K pots. The treble filtering is different. My approach is to use my bags of tricks to balance the PU's with the tone pots on '10', and not have to dial them down again. I don't think it's that controversial.

All I want is for players to know that this is also a viable method and is used by some players.

Oh come on, you make the 'self-centered egos issue' comment about me and then you get your feelings hurt when I start joking about your 'list'. Certainly there's nothing that's been said in this thread for anyone to get upset about, if someone is, they're taking it way too seriously. Like we're going to have a fist fight in the parking lot over pot values?

And you know darn well that in person we'd get along great. Come on, loosen up.

Just thought you'd act differently is all....I'm not losing any sleep over it though... ;o) Don't really know where you're coming from? Kinda thought I did,but it's almost like it's totally your way or no way...I don't post for it to become a pissing match with other forum members...Both of us dished it out and I'm also to blame for it,but on my end(It will stop)...If we can't just help each other, except each other's knowledge, opinions, and whatever,I'd just rather ignore the personality differences we seem to share..As I said, you help others and you have helped me...The back and forth argueing crap between us is done!

Cool Beans! I'm hoping to have a few gigs in March and April myself. Going to go through a bit of withdrawl in a day or two though. I've grown my hair out since October of 2010 since I had to leave my Surg Tech clinicals due to the loss of our babysitter, but I now have to start my internship for Medical Billing and Coding, which in these parts means HAIR GONE! I know long hair isn't in anymore, but I'm from the 70's, and I just feel and look right with long hair and some form of facial hair. Haven't been "clean" for such a long time.

Re: Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

So...should I call two waaaahmbulances or can we sedate you and fit both of you into one?

Both.....Just tired of the back and forth stuff...I'm on these forums since 04 because it's been fun....But not always!

Please don't add any fuel to the fire! ;o)

Good news....I keep my hair short these days....Alot of it is gone and I've kinda gone a silvery blond.....Lol..

There's no pissing match. We each have our own views, we both made fun of each other. So? I do that to all my friends. I really didn't think that would hurt our friendship. Didn't we have a blast on those two recent threads of yours you deleted? I had some funny stuff in there, as did you. I thought after all that the members would know not to take my posts too seriously, you most of all.

As far as making a contribution here, look at all the free mags I've sent to members, at least 100 mags, and to 12 foreign countries. And all the time I spend helping newbies here, no matter how repititious the questions get. I do some good here.

Come on John... friends?

Ok Blueman.....You're right and I'll take your posts in a positive way....I'll really work harder at it.... ;o) I never said you weren't generous...It's your personality... Lol...Ok internet forum handshake and we move on...I'm not posting the Gibson vs Strat stuff anymore unless I add you to my ignore list! ;o):nana::beerchug: Peace! Friends!
