Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

Re: Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

In defense of the mids and highend issue....In a band,a guitarist always benefits from cutting mids...I Know my hearing in the highs isn't what it used to be,but I also like to have enough highend because it helps cut also...But...I also like to dial some of it out..

Re: Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

I would love to see and hear the video...Could you share?

Yeah good luck with that...I get the feeling some of us just talk the talk...Lol.....Also....since when is playing with another guitarist "competitive" even just tonewise...Sounds like some self centered ego issues maybe?

Re: Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

This is why I have chosen to ignore a very select few of people on the forums....

I don't want to ignore anybody aside from obvious trolls. He and I seem to have a lot in common in many ways musically, so it is good to see posts by another guy who is rooted in R&B and who, of course, knows his electronics. I just tell people directly when they are bugging me. It ain't no big thang. Kind of like a, "WTF, man!" delivered to a friend or bandmate. (Are you reading, Blueman? Sorry if I seemed to lose it a bit there.)

Been there and done that...Just depends on who's doing the back and forth...I don't agree with alot of stuff I read here, but I do listen and I surely do give my opinion..With this being said,we need to stay civil and not throw the personal dig crap out...Thats where the lines are drawn for me...I'm the kinda guy that would prefer to be face to face with someone or at least talk over the phone..Its real easy to be a bad a$$ on a forum!

Sometimes it is better to ignore, simply because these so called trolls(as you call em)want to argue....I don't find that fun and it doesn't put anything positive out there to the rest of us...Now I decide on who I reply to or not...Easier!

Re: Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

meh, it's a tone forum. All I see is text that other people type, and I have yet to be remotely bothered or offended on here since 04 when I joined, but from all those debates and discussions I've learned VOLUMES, and got to know all of you guys and each of your tech preferences and bits of knowledge.

I'm a libra, and sometimes I have to fight the urge to continue debates because I want to have a sort of resolution that combines the knowledge of both arguing parties to make a better conclusion. But meh, as long as we're discussing tone and we take what other people say at face value, there's nothing to get fired up about!

I like the 250k with a seth lover neck, or a mini humbucker in a heavy strat (almost 9 lbs alder/maple) I think my strat is bright, but has a naturally quick snap to it that I like very much (resembles an LP a bit more than a strat if you ask me).

I agree with everyone who mentioned retaining access to the treble. Even with 250k all of my pickups can reach bright tones. Every time I play plugged in, I'm happy that I can fine tune the middle pup blend, and the range of tones is great on my guitar despite having to do some quick fine tuning wth the balance of knobs here and there. I tinker while I play so it doesn't bother me,

I do agree that a perfectly configured axe with the right pots in neck and bridge is a balanced and well oiled machine.

Lucky for you, that a guy on the forums since 04 like myself, doesn't post as much! ;o) Just the personal dig stuff doesn't belong on a guitar forum...Thats my only beef!

Re: Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

1) Blueman, I don't get it. You readily say it is all subjective, which it is, and then you give people trouble for not liking what you like. It is so passive/aggressive. It makes it seem as if the "it's all subjective" statements are just there to smooth over the edges of your feelings about anything that doesn't suit you. Do you really believe that it is subjective, or do you just say that to keep yourself from getting flamed? Because you will say something like that, and then turn around and talk down to others in a later statement.

2) I will admit that it may all be in good fun on your part, and I am just missing the joke. if so, sorry.

1) There's few guys on this forum that have been bashed, trashed and personally insulted as many times as I have. I keep coming back with a smile. So when I make jokes and say things to get a reaction out of people, it's kind of odd that I get accused as being an aggressor. Some people have no sense of humor. All this is, is guys sitting at keyboards when they should be doing something else more productive, giving opinions that are often presented as facts. I never get upset at what anyone says or does here, I don't care if they know what what they're talking about, open conversations generate some good ideas. It's a think tank, and stuff has to be filtered. So. I want players to know that there are different ways to do things. I want them to know what I do and why, and they can decide for themselves if it's something they want to try. What, do you think I get a commission on the sale of magnets and 250K pots?

2) There is that possibility. :14:

Please don't take this as me being a smart ass, because it isn't my intent....I would like you to share your video....I would like to hear it.

Now, for a guy that says making 'personal digs' crosses the line...How about 'walking the talk' of what you just said?

Hey, all of us step up our game a bit when we play with another guitarist. It's not an official competition, but you don't want to leave the stage having clearly been outplayed either. It's nice to at least keep up. No one wants to have an off night when you're playing with someone who's having a great night. That for anything, not just music. You want to at least look competent.

The guy in question has his gear and tone choices, I have mine. We're both good players, I'm just saying in that setting, he didn't project as well because of those gear/tone choices. Read all kinds of psychology into it if you want...

Re: Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

Am I on your ignore list? :scratchch

He doesn't know how to put stuff like that online, I think. I've asked him to see it before. It would be cool to see. In a very non-judgey way, of course. :)

I'm really over posting to some of our forum members...Live and learn...

True. Old dog, new tricks. I'd like to get some of that stuff online. I have to get the wife to do it, and she's usually not in the mood (for uploading online, I mean).

No, I have no earthly idea how to get anything uploaded; the wife knows a little more than me about how to do it, but is not up to date on this stuff. She tried a couple months ago and that didn't work out. I'll have to bug her again.

Re: Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

Nope.....Lol....Just the one(s) who need to be!

Would you mind publishing this 'ignore' list you keep mentioning? We're dying of curiosity. Am I at the top? If not, who do I have to bump to get there? :cool2:

Re: Blueman has converted me! I love the 250k volume pots on my Les Pauls.

Did the resistors change the taper of the pots?

I listened for that because I had read about it, but I didn't notice a change that would affect my playing. They still roll off evenly. What kind of change did you notice?
