meh, it's a tone forum. All I see is text that other people type, and I have yet to be remotely bothered or offended on here since 04 when I joined, but from all those debates and discussions I've learned VOLUMES, and got to know all of you guys and each of your tech preferences and bits of knowledge.
I'm a libra, and sometimes I have to fight the urge to continue debates because I want to have a sort of resolution that combines the knowledge of both arguing parties to make a better conclusion. But meh, as long as we're discussing tone and we take what other people say at face value, there's nothing to get fired up about!
I like the 250k with a seth lover neck, or a mini humbucker in a heavy strat (almost 9 lbs alder/maple) I think my strat is bright, but has a naturally quick snap to it that I like very much (resembles an LP a bit more than a strat if you ask me).
I agree with everyone who mentioned retaining access to the treble. Even with 250k all of my pickups can reach bright tones. Every time I play plugged in, I'm happy that I can fine tune the middle pup blend, and the range of tones is great on my guitar despite having to do some quick fine tuning wth the balance of knobs here and there. I tinker while I play so it doesn't bother me,
I do agree that a perfectly configured axe with the right pots in neck and bridge is a balanced and well oiled machine.
