Well I received my MI Audio Crunch Box today
Since I was actually searching for a pedal that could be used as a good crunch channel, I rented a Traynor YCV50 for a couple of days to be able to A/B the pedal with the lead channel of the Traynor.
After several tests at room and rehearsal volume, it was obvious that the MI Audio Crunch Box was 95% there. It was actually hard to tell the difference between the lead channel of the amp and the clean channel+pedal. What an amazing pedal. The best distrotion pedal I've ever played.
So I went back to the store and picked up a Blues Jr. because I've wanted a smaller amp with good crunch for a while... and this is it. In spades! The Blues Jr. + Crunch Box sound so good it's unbeleivable.
So now I have great Fender cleans and good british crunch in a small package
I can't be happier. I really have to make some clips of this set-up. Hopefully, it will translate well on the recordings.
As a side note, I once owned a Blues Jr two years ago, and I'm now convinced that it was defective. It had no low end at all, and it was very hollow. It sounded like a cardboard box, to the point where I was wondering why people liked this amp. The one I have now sounds amazing for cleans and mild overdrive on its own.
I want to thank you guys for pointing me to the MI Audio Crunch Box. Can't remember for sure, Rid was one I think, and a couple of other guys. This is my best purchase in quite a while.
Cheers!
