Bobbin toppers? Stickers?

Do they look OK? Do they last? Do they peel off? Which are the ones to get?

I kinda don't dislike the 490R paired with the Suhr SSH+. Feels kinda wasteful to swap it out just because I want it to be zebra rather than black. I suppose I could sell it and use the funds to get an A2P or something similar, but not sure I wanna go through the trouble.

So... would bobbin toppers do the job or will I be constantly reminded that I cheaped out when I look at my guitar? LOL

Something tells me having something sticky on my guitar pickups is not something I would enjoy. I stopped putting stickers on my guitars when I was younger. It would get hot in the summer and the glue would get loose and goopy.

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm afraid of. That they're basically just stickers that scratch up and peel off.

But I do know they're vinyl. I mean, stores stick vinyl lettering outdoors and it tends to hold up. So I'm not sure if it will hold up to aggressive guitar playing.

When the good Lord calls you home, do you really want to be remember as the guy who went to an internet forum to get strangers to take a vote on whether or not it was worth the risk of buying $10 decals for his guitar?

Whichever route you take no you made the right decision, for no other reason than that the decision was yours.

It's not the 10 dollars. It's the drag of ordering internationally (I can't find them for sale in Canada), the ones that I find seem to be around 20, and the risk of ruining a perfectly good pickup with goop from a sticker that won't come off. Besides that, what's wrong with asking for opinions/experiences rather than throwing 10 dollars in the trash if that's what it's going to be like? It's not like it costs you $10 to leave an opinion if you have experience with the stickers.

I had bobbin toppers on some pickups a few years ago. They looked alright, especially from a distance, and they stayed in place extremely well. As a short term fix for you to get the look you want, I say do it. Put them on and then keep an eye out for a good deal on a zebra pickup you want.
