Laste night was the first time I used my new Shiva with the Band. I bought this a few months ago and played thru it a few times at home and recognized that this amp is a Killer. At home I use a Marshall 900 that I A/B with a 67 or 68 Super Reverb, and quite honestly I was/am very happy with the versatility I get with this. The reason I bought the Bogner was to try to get everything in one box and easier to move.
With the Band I have been using a 67 Deluxe Reverb.......... a super good amp, but the lack of headroom was giving my some issues. I was kind of rushed. I got to practice a little late so I really did not have top much time to dial it in. I really didn't need to though. This amp smoked all night.
I used my 68 SG standard and my Candy apple red Tele that has a Strat pup in the neck. I used my tube screamer kind of like a clean boost. I set it with no drive and adjusted the tone to color the sound as little as possible. I only used this for solos using the clean channel. The Drive channel was just flat out amazing. The amp was solid and tight with everything I did. Every note in every chord rang thru clearly and the sustain and overtones were beautiful. I was so happy with it I took my Deluxe home and I will be using the Bogner from now on.
The other guitar player uses a MArshall 800, another really fine sounding amp. He commented after the rehearsal asking how much I paid for it. Which I told him.... He said he was going to look into one also. His 800 with his Les Paul sounded really good, so I am not sure why, but I think the Bogner impressed him as much as it dod me................ Best channel switching amp I have ever played thru!!
