Re: Boston's Tom Sholz and Gibson releasing signature guitar
Tom's contribution to rock music is huge, particularly in production and engineering. What he did in recording and mixing a complete and ready for print Boston album was unheard of, and his technical prowess in designing his own gadgets to obtain his sound, etc is undeniable.
As a guitarist and rock star, Tom was competent, but not a standout by any means.
However, sig guitars are not about entitlement, they're all about sales. And while Tom and Boston might seem like nothing more distant memories from many people's childhood hearing it on the radio in their parents car, fact is Boston as a classic rock brand is iconic and Gibson is marketing to a specific target group with this - middle aged guys with money who want to relive their classic rock years.
