Bought my first PRS - and I Love It!

I finally sold the MIJ Tele and was able to use the funds from it to pick up a PRS SE Singlecut Korina. Thankfully, it's the same one I played a couple weeks ago. I thought for sure it would have sold over President's Day Weekend. I played it at the store a little bit more just to be 100% sure and ran it through a couple amps. Man, this guitar sings. It is stupid light and so comfortable to play. It needed just a slight setup but that was it; new strings, adjust the action, check the neck relief. All is good. The pickups are staying as-is for now. I see no need to change them right now.

This is a stock pic. Haven't taken any of my own yet.

Congrats on your new guitar! PRS guitars and general, IMO, tend to be excellent, and very consistent from one to another. Some of them are notorious for making all your little errors in playing stand out, but in the hands of a good guitarist, they are things of beauty.

Play her in good health!

Those are some of the most appealing SE's I've seen, and the best part is you just swapped something for it. I wish I had that guitar to put my Seth Lovers in.

Yup. It outplays the Epi LP I used to have and even the Tele I just sold. Can't wait until our gig next month. I'm definitely using it.

I'm with you. It just grabs your attention. Even with selling that Tele, I had to add in a little but it was from the sale of another guitar and a little bit of gig money. So really, two guitars sold for one better one.

Re: Bought my first PRS - and I Love It!

How is the neck profile on the SE ? Most of the domestic PRS's I've played seemed to have a neck that was a Lil' to chunky for my taste... And I price tag a Lil' to chunky for my wallet.:laugh2:

Re: Bought my first PRS - and I Love It!

The specs for the neck say "Wide/Fat". It's not a thin neck but it's not too fat either. Then again, I have a Warmoth boat contour neck on my frankenstrat so anything compared to it is thin...LOL.

Thanks guys. These SE's are real players. A couple weeks ago I A/B'd it against another SE Singlecut but a non-Korina model. The Korina sounds a little sweeter with a little but more snap to it. The simplicity of it is just perfect.

Re: Bought my first PRS - and I Love It!

Congrats!

My local shop has the exact same one...Stock pix don't do that Korina justice!

Enjoy!

Hahaha! Great pics. I think of Cartman, "No kitty kitty this is my SE!". :)

I tried taking pics of mine and cannot get any that do it any justice. They all came out too light, and that is with the flash off. Will try again later.

This is one of the pics I took this morning. First one too and actually the best of all of them. It looks so much nicer in person.

That looks killer. I was actually eyeballing the new SE One Korina, but couldn't pass up the deal on the one I just picked up. I love the simple look, great pick up. If you wind up swapping pickups, I think that covered or zebra pickups would look awesome!

Re: Bought my first PRS - and I Love It!

It's beautiful man, I love the way that Korina looks... I have a Reverend that is Korina as well and it is also just insanely light, blows me away that it still sounds as amazingly good as it does.

Re: Bought my first PRS - and I Love It!

How do you intonate that thing?

There are set screws on the back edge (towards the strap button) of the tailpiece that you can use to move either side to or away from the studs. It's probably intonated just fine though, these tailpieces are pretty good about that.
