Brobucker sounds a little thin in this guitar

The Brobucker is a MONSTER pickup and I own two of the original run. One has a home in my 1980 Les Paul that was fitted with a Floyd Rose and will never come out. That guitar and pickup combo are a freak of nature. The second one I put in a Chibson SG made of Basswood, and believe it or not, THAT guitar sounds almost as good as the Gibson. That's why it stayed. So I got an Agile Hawker Elite a few years back and I finally got around to putting the Brobucker in the bridge of that guitar. Mahogany body, maple cap. Weird thing is that the pickup sounds very good, but something's missing. A little thin maybe? It's installed correctly, and nothing sounds off enough to make me think it isn't, but it just doesn't have that oomph that it had in the other guitar. Anyone have an opinion as to the wood combo of this guitar, and do you think a C5 or C8 would get me closer to that full, heavy sound I'm looking for?

Fiddle around with the height a bit and that should help a bit. From what I can tell is you have a textbook case of your Floyd Rose thinning out the tone. You didn't notice it too much in your Gibson because of the shorter scale, but it revealed itself in the Agile.

Edit: just did some research and the Agile Hawker has the same scale as Gibson. In which case it might be the wood, saddles, and frets all adding up to not like your Brobucker as much as your other guitars.

I got the pickup as close to the strings as I can without them touching. I was thinking it's a combo of the wood, and the cheaper Floyd that comes in this guitar. Works great, but materials are materials. So what pickup might help to make up for these shortcomings? The C8 sounds incredible is my JS series Rhoads guitar, also with a cheap Floyd. That's why I was wondering if that pickup would do the trick. Just gotta get both guitars in the same place to do the swap, lol.

I put an UOA5 in my Brobucker, which added midrange & took off the excess high-end, along with adding some texture to the sound. To me, that's the best magnet for it. It you want more horsepower, an A8 would be the way to go.

Could it be pickup placement? Not familiar with Agiles but I'm thinking perhaps the pickup might be ever-so-slightly closer to the bridge than on a Les Paul. I have been astounded at the changes a fraction of an inch can make. Many years ago I moved the bridge humbucker on one of my Floydcasters a couple of millimeters and the difference was night and day. Same pickup, no other changes made: fatter, sweeter, and noticeably louder. Still plenty of cut, but suddenly it was much better balanced. Amazing difference.

Try an A8 magnet in the Bro

I think that's the first thing I'm going to try, to be honest. I have one A8 left, and I believe I do have a UOA5 as well. Gotta see what mags I have.
