Curly - I agree that 4 knobs is probably just too much - might go for volume/tone/blender. More on that later...

Chip,
well, I say that 'cause the LPS carved top I got was ordered with 4 knobs, and after getting a Hamer Studio, I like that 3 knob setup better - it gives you all the variety you really need, and looks cleaner. I also like their standard "Peter Green" style series wiring.
While covered Hums look elegant, P90's have kind of an "uh oh, he means business!" look! :D just IMO

(great thread, BTW, Hoss - got my creative juices flowing, which usually ends up costing some $$$!) :D :14:

i know what you mean curly!!!

it's got me trying to scramble some money together to finish my strat...$$$

Re: build your tele!

waste,
the top blue tele is a little like the idea behind Richard Thompson's custom FerringtonCaster, 'cept his has the P90 in the neck, and a strat pup in the mid, with 3 volumes.:

Re: build your tele!

Well here is a pic of my interpretation of the actual guitar I actually ordered from Heritage. Custom color burst with a request for a unique top (not your boring old average everyday flame maple). you can't see the custom neck carve on it from this angle, but it's there. SRV style fat offset boat V neck. Duncan APII in the neck, and CC in the bridge. Ebony board, and the mojo blessed upon it by the original head builders of the Gibson factory (apparently they are going to retire here in a year or two)

kaknight - that ain't no Tele, but it sure is pretty. I played a Heritage 535 last week while killing time between business meetings and barely escaped without buying the darn thing. The wood, construction details & finish are better than Gibson's IMHO.
