Cathode biased EL34 in a snakeskin Bluesbreaker 2x12. He went with a Celestion Gold and Celestion Lynchback. Good combo.

How does a cathode biased EL34 amp sound ... I mean, compared to fixed bias? Does they type of biasing have any effect on the EQ, and in particular, the top end?

Lightning type front end, sort of a hybrid clubman chieftain power section. Master cut treble bass volume.

The eq is an interactive thing on the front end. Where you set one tone control affects the range of the other. It's weird at first but a ton of tones in that stack. As far as the cathode biased thing, kinda looser sponger versus focused tighter fixed bias? Hard to describe. Very sweet to the ears.

The guy that got it is very happy. It's his first really "good" hand-wired amp. Alls well that ends well. Rocks my world to get some of these emailed comments back.
