Buzz Feiten Tuning System

Re: Buzz Feiten Tuning System

so what i dont get is that Suhr uses the system, Anderson uses the system and you guys say it isnt good???

please explain...why do these guys use the system then?

Re: Buzz Feiten Tuning System

Seriously,

i was thinking of getting it done to my super strat since i cant stand the way the high E,B,G tune usually. This has been something that has always got on my nerves. i always tried to get past it by tuning these strings slightly off so they are more in tune with each other.

I also was wondering about how the Buzz Feiten nut will change the tone as well. i have a Tusq nut on now.

any more thoughts?

Re: Buzz Feiten Tuning System

I played an acoustic that had it a couple of years ago. The difference, to my ears, was rather dramatic. The main reason I don't have it on any of my guitars is that I love my Jackson so much it would have to be the first one to get it, and I'm aprehensive about the Feiten locking nut being as good as a Floyd original. I may have to have it done to one of my acoustics.

Re: Buzz Feiten Tuning System

My main thing about the Feiten....is that I hate hate hate how chords sounds...you know the notes are too spaced out like in studiomonitors, they do not blend into each other anymore, plus I think I think that wellcarved nut and good setup works better, it is a tempered instrument from the ground, it is about finding where the notes blend in a way that is pleasing, and human ears really do not like "perfect" innotation, as it would sound "false" to us.

Re: Buzz Feiten Tuning System

IME it seems to work best on acoustic guitars...seems like a bit of a waste on electrics...

Plus 'ya gotta get the stupid Buzz Feiten tuner to "make it REALLY work" or so I'm told.

I snagged a Washburn 335 off 'da bay & it's got the Buzz system. I've only had it around for a month or two but it seems to play more or less about as in tune as any other well-intonated gee'tar in my stable...

I wouldn't bother retrofitting to anything other then maybe a problem axe...but I'd most likely launch the problem axe before anything else could be contemplated!

And you hit the nail on the head right there. Most people I see bashing it don't use the compensated tuning. The nut gets moved and "sometimes" the compensated intonation is done. It does work but you can't half ass it.
