I did a search and didnt find much, so like the title says, I'm wondering if that's possible? Or is it best to not even attempt such a project? TIA.

You would have to cut a block to fit the hole then redrill for the new bridge. It would also make sence to fill in the spring cavety on the back with another block. Then we are talking a lot of sanding and a refin. Might not be worth it unless there is a problem with the Floyd we are talking a lot of work.

If you want to have a hardtail made from a FR body, you'll either need to do glue in and refinish over a block of wood, OR....just block the tremolo. There's also combination stop/tunomatics you can stick on there. Resomax Wraparoud, the Hipshot Baby Grand (I like that one, it's purdy), and the Schaller combination one. You'd have to put in a new set of studs for a TOM @ 3.25in instead of the FR which is less wide @ 2.9375.
Eh, I dunno if it's worth the trouble. I decided to stick with my no-tuner FR and block it in place instead of messing around with what you're talking about.

I have seen photos of guitars that had Floyds removed and replaced with fixed bridge.
A good luthier can do it.
As Securb mentioned, it involves filling in all the holes and routing with wood and finishing over it.
If you are concerned about resale value of your guitar, you should know that these kinds of major modifications usually significantly lower the value of your instrument.

Thanks a lot for everyone's replies. Yeah I had kinda thought filling in the routes was the only way. Definitely more trouble than I'd want to go to.

Anything is possible (but sometimes costly). Oh well, anything short of gluing wood dust back into a plank.
Do you mind if I ask what guitar you're trying to de-floyd?

If it's a bolt-on neck see if there's a body you could get with a hard tail bridge option. There's one way you could go if you can't do the woodwork yourself.

I have done it a few times with great results. I find the best way is to convert a 24 fret body to a 21 fret neck. The added room allows for a single coil and the new hardtail bridge will mount through the plug into the originally timber. Its a awesome mod to attempt but it is a lot of work.
Here she is before i decided to refinish it and add the single coil.
Here is another one but unfinished.

Block it. That's the simplest way to do it without having to go through a million hoops.

This, just avoid doing any major mods to the guitar and just block off the trem, either through a tremol-no or just use a wood block, some people even like blocked off trems more than actual fixed bridges.

I was wondering if blocking the trem while replacing the sustain block would really change the tone that much.

Yes there is a big difference in hard blocking and floating.
But either one of them is far away from a hardtail. It's really three things. I base this opinion on having done what the OP wants, BTW, just reverse.
