Hey all, i know this seems like a really stupid question but i just want to make sure before i buy a new SSS pickguard for the new pickups I am getting. Can i use any strat SSS pickguard with my guitar? I currently have an HSS setup with an HSS pickguard obviously. Can anyone send me a link to just a plain white SSS pickguard? I have a link to my exact guitar at the bottom.

Yes SSS will always work. There are 5 million available on ebay or google shop.

thanks a lot, do i need to spend a lot of money on it or can i just buy a cheap one which here is £5 but the fender one is £40

The cheap ones are fine and they usually fit. Strats are the most standardized instrument ever. I got one for less than $10 for my p bass and I just had to file it a little bit.

You take apart 10 violins from different makers and even different times - mix all the parts up, and they'll fit back together with almost no problems. They have had 500 years to standardize sizes and parts, etc. - basically all copies of a Strad.

Stratocasters haven't had that much time, and contrary to your previous posts - they are NOT identical. There are many variations on the theme - sometimes different placements of screws on the pickguard. Thinner bodies, different neck mountings, etc. The Mexican, various Asian versions, even Euro versions all have differences from American stuff. Heck, Fender has retooled Strats and Teles so many times, there is no "basic" model anymore. Mutations are the rule - not the exception when it comes to guitars.

Having done string instrument repair for 39 years - even violin family stuff - I can speak with some authority on the matter.

That's pretty interesting. I play a string family instrument - double bass.

I've not had luck with cheap pickguards in the slightest. On several different guitar types they have unfailingly not matched either the shapes and curves they are supposed to match, but screw hole placement is out too.

You might run into problems with the screw holes almost lining up. This is usually the case when mixing and matching pickguards. Most people just redrill the holes. To others this is a bigger deal.
