Can just one side of a pickup go bad?

So, I bought this guitar on Ebay. The description said "broken." I thought, hey, I'll fix it up.

Cleaned it up, gave it some some solder on the parts where the wire had broken, and a new set of strings, and it all works ... except the high "E" string, which makes no sound. Also, the B string is kinda quiet. I've lowered the strings, raised the pickups, it's no use.

The pickups are SD Blackouts in an HSS configuration. All three pickups do it. Low E, A, D and G are fine, B is kinda quiet, E makes no sound. My ex thinks it got set against an amp speaker for too long, but lots of guitars lean against amps, and I've never heard of that happening.

What do you guys think?

it could be the magnets, cant imagine its the coil since the other strings work
