Hi, I m looking to replace my stock pick ups from strat(mim) with hot rails in bridge ,stk s6 in middle and stk s7 in neck. Will it keep the balance while altering the switch from bridge to middle or birdge to neck... Plz guide..

Welcome to the Forum!

You should be ok with balance between them. The Hot Rails will still be more, but most bridge pickups are.

Hi Mincer. Thanks a lot buddy for reply. If u can suggest some better alternative than this. The genres I would be covering will be varying to hard rock ,rock,blues rock, psychedelic rock , country and alternative rock. Band wise AC DC to Pink Floyd to Lynard skynard. Thanks once again.

How would be stk s6 in bridge ,stk s4 in middle and stk s7 in neck only If Seymour Duncan hot rail will have major difference output wise.

If you are doing such a wide range of stuff, I don't know if I'd go so hot in the neck. I might use an STK-s4 in the neck & middle, and STK-s6 in the bridge. I would think you'd want some dynamics and clarity in the neck & middle with a hotter bridge pickup.

Lil 59b, S4m and S4n seem like a better set based on the bands mentioned if the desire is to have humbucker tone in the bridge. The DiMarzio Satch Track may be another good selection for the bridge position. Split the S4m and S4n in position 4 only and stay noiseless/humbucking for the rest of the positions.

For single coil tone in the bridge you can go with an S7, S4b or S6 with S4m and S4n in the middle and neck, respectively.

I'd wait for a more experienced member like Jeremy to offer suggestions for three different models to give the best balance between the three positions.

Thanks Gregory. It seems that I would have to eliminate the hot rail from the options as u guys have not mentioned it. And I believe that u guys are more knowledgeable than me on this topic. Seems that would go with S6b S4m S4n or S7bridge S4b S6n

Hi Dave. It seems that I will not be able to use Hot rails as u guys are not in favour of it with respect to my choices of genres. I think I would go with stk s6 in the bridge and stk s4 in middle and neck. Or S7B S4M AND S6 neck. Really confused now. Hahahaha.

Don't be confused. Just decide if you want a humbucker in the bridge or a stack. Single coil size humbuckers have more gain to them especially the hot rails, which can be fine if that's what you want. Greg mentioned a lil 59 bridge which could be good too. Stacks have single coil sound so just decide wat you want.

Cool Rail bridge is amazing sc-sized hb without being over the top. Pair it with S4m and S7n.

I saw a post considering an S7 in the bridge and the S6 in the neck. Please note the S6 is more powerful than the S7.

What I have read here seems to agree with the information on the product website (which has proven to be unreliable on its own), which is that the S4n/m is weaker than the S7 which is weaker than the S4b which is weaker than the S6. The BMT figures for the S7 suggest that it has quite a different character, making me question whether it is good for the neck position against any of the S4 models or the S6 in the other positions, with the classic exception of putting a brightest weakest single in the middle for quack.

That's a great choice for some good beef in the bridge that's still Stratty. It would be the modern noiseless set for classic David Gilmour.

The last time I had thought about SSS sets was the day of the eclipse. I haven't checked that post and it's probably too late, but for balance in each position with what I think are good characteristics for a rockin' set could be an S7 in the bridge, S4m in the middle and S10n for the neck. I think splitting for bridge + middle could be worth while, but I don't think splitting the neck and middle would work very well, though leaving them both noiseless should be just fine. You could probably get away with sinking the S4 a bit farther down in order to get more chime and clear some space for your right hand.
