I bought this guitar used a year ago. It had a Custom and an A2pro. I didn't like either. I don't like the Custom type of crunch (ANY of them, I tried them all) and the A2Pro was too bassy for my setting. I play mainly rock and hard rock with the bridge and clean with the neck (CCR, BTO, and some jazzy funky stuff).
I like the 59 set, probably my favorite Duncans. I currently have a Dimarzio Super D and a PAF. I like the Super D, though a little too compressed, still I can live with it. The PAF is not detailed enough for my taste.
I also tried PGs, I don't like them in either position. They have some kind of treble spike that I find annoying.
So I'm kinda frustatred now cause I can't seems to find the perfect combo. I think that the 59 set is the closest. Still, I'd like my bridge pickup with a little more mids and warmth.
Should I go Seth Lover? Gibson 57 Classic? Or maybe simply use an A2Pro(b) with a 59N?
What do you think?
