Re: Can you write on tubes?

I mean, I wouldn't literally like it, but I would be scientifically curious.

My guess is that a direct hit from a significant spark would be required to ignite the solvent in a marker. Even so, I never write with a permanent marker while pumping gas and smoking a cigarette.

Re: Can you write on tubes?

I have just taken a cigarette lighter to a sharpie
I would post a YouTube video
But it wasn't spectacular

Re: Can you write on tubes?

Does it seem that's because you apply the marker to a room-temperature tube and allow it to dry before powering up?

No, not really. No fireworks even when they're hot. I know first hand because if we're out of Redi-whip I'll use an oven mit to pull the hot tube and mark it while it's hot so I can huff the sharpie vapors.

Re: Can you write on tubes?

Next we'll need a volunteer to write on the black or red wire with a sharpie while holding the green wire in the spare hand. This experiment may require a helper to take notes and huff vapors. And Guitar Steve could drop by to clean up after the experiment.

Re: Can you write on tubes?

If they still make them, the ink in El Marko permanent markers hold up much better than sharpies on smooth surfaces like metal, so probably glass as well.
I do not know if they are more spectacular when set afire.

Re: Can you write on tubes?

Yeah wait until its glowing hot and then do it :18:. Man who dresses you in the morning?

Just some pedantic base covering for folks following along at work/while motoring.
