If I may add my thoughts on this matter, you guys might want to consider the weird position that this whole thing creates for SD.

I think that we all know what the posts are about, so I, for one, will continue to ignore them.

Not everyone's great at marketing themselves. Sometimes, they are so desperate that they make themselves look foolish, sheerly out of ignorance or desperation, or both.

I would encourage you to let it go. You do what you want, but that's what I intend to do.

I think I understand what you're saying. When an endorsee breaks the rules, the company is stuck about whether to do what they usually do when a spammer comes along - or whether to make an exception due to his status. Am I on the right track?

RAINMAKER,When SEAFOAMER starts a post demanding my immediate respose.Reminding you I was told not to provide any musical instruction here at SD,by the admistrators of the SD forum.I explained that I cannot answer his question.I was instructed that there will not be a 'ASK CARMINE' ADD ON TO THE SD Forum.I told SEAFOAMER to join CARMINES CORNER.He refused and demanded(as in a temper tantrum) my response NOW,not at CARMINES CORNER.I consider that rude behavior,

Didn't realise SD didn't tell you not give musician instruction here. My bad.

Thanks RAINMAKER,I will never post here again,

Sorry. Was I really that rude?

Re: Carmines Corner

hmm...

Carmine wanted to be a teacher and gave us the oppertunity to be his students, which is a great and kind thing from a busy professional recording artist as he is.

But on the SD Forum are we all students, as well as all are teachers. A discussion is between a teacher and a teacher and in the meantime between a student and a student. A common thing here to give critics and commend each other the way that students critics/commend each other or the way that teachers critics/commend each other. If one tries to only be on the "teachers level" or only on the "students level" it just ain't gonna work.

Some of the guys here have a great amount of expericence and knowledge, I ain't one of them. Their oppinons are of course by other forumites more respected than mine but still these members also takes critics from not so experienced members and also learn stuff from them. I never assume that someone with only two posts is a rookie or a dumbass just beacuse he only have two posts and haven't been active for such along time, he might have a great amount of knowledge and he might be a great guy that just posted something dumb because he was new here.

To be a part of this Forum you have to have an open mind to everyone, participate in the discussions that are going on here and of take some critics "not so seriously" and not berserk and threathen with quitting just beacuse someones a little rude to you once...

To be tolerant and, as said sometimes take some comments "not so seriously". That's what in the long run keeps the friendship and good mood in this forum. That's why I really enjoy being a part of it.

Re: Carmines Corner

Oh yeah, and Carmine, assuming you haven't left - may I ask why SD requested that you did not give musicial instruction here?

Strange, because this is usually what discussion boards do.

Re: Carmines Corner

Hey Carmine,

I don't normally participate in threads like this but this one left me thinking:

- I noticed that you've have publicly quit doing something which weren't going to do anyway i.e. offer advise to people on the board?

Or have we missed something?

No disrespect meant, I'm only puzzled.

thanks

Marin

Re: Carmines Corner

Carmine may have misunderstood... he said that there would not be an "ASK CARMINE" section added to the forum, but i'm not sure that he was directly told not to post musical advice here.

Either that, or I don't know what the hell I'm talking about

Re: Carmines Corner

carmine, with all due respect, did even you even ask yourself why they are "rude" to you? its very nice having you here on the forum but i think it is better if you decided to remain anonymous; not proclaiming to the forum that you're a well educated, award winning guitarist, producer, songwriter, etc. i'm not saying that you're not we can't take that away from you but, people here feel that your bragging its like "hey, i'm carmine , i won a grammy and you don't" or "thats for a beginner" or calling members "non-educated", "children" kinda thing. and then you promote your CDs, most will call it spam and man your a grammy winning artist you should promote it on the tonight show or something.
its better to be on a level playing field, if you really wanna help and give tips, just remain anonymous and discuss with us like a regular member and if you give or share good ideas or whatever you will eventually earn our respects. just be humble man....................be humble. and people will respect you more.

Re: Carmines Corner

WoW!!! what a train wreck!!! :smack: :smack: :smack:

What i've gathered from all these Carmine stand offs is a few things

1) The core of the problem seems to be the feeling of alot of members...it's the "feeling" (remember, perception is reality) that Carmine has downed the members here...at first by telling everything he had ever done...and then secondly (although probably defensively) by straight up insulting our collective musicianship!

2) I think most of us felt he got off on the wrong foot (i'm sure by accident) by purely posting links to everything Carmine...i know alot of people felt he was just advertising (spamming) and not appearing to want to be any type of actual contributing member to the forum. (i think this was the BIGGIE)

3) We, on the other hand, have also jumped on the above like junkyard dogs...which was hard to resist...i admit...but we did nonetheless!?

soooo...i'm not even quite sure that the whole thing could ever be cleaned up to be honest...Carmine obviously doesn't have time to just hang out and talk (which is good for him...he's doing what he loves)...so we'll never know the real Carmine.......i'm sure he didn't realize what kind of intimate (i use that term loosely, you know what i mean) setting the forum is...at least i'm giving him the benefeit of the doubt.

that all being said...let's all just try to move on :smack: :burnout:

Ahem, just a reminder...

The Sound Room - Off Topic (19 Viewing)
Keep it clean. Keep it real. Keep it respectful. All political topics are banned. Don't forget to be nice.

I left that forum for the most part due to just plain crap being posted. Please do not infect this forum with crap.

If you are bored with nothing to do, then go play your guitar.

To be honest, I didn't even think of that! You're right, Off Topic is where the bickering belongs.

Thanks, Matt :)

Re: Carmines Corner

Or, we could have just ignored Carmine & talked shop.

In the progression of my original question: [G+7, " , C-7, " , Ab7, " , Bbmaj7, " ]

I'd prolly prefer to play an altered scale over the G+7 chord, a aeolian scale over the C-7, an Lydian flat 7 scale over the Ab7, and a Bbmajor scale over the Bbmaj7 chord.

This would keep the Ab in the chord scale through the first 3 chords.

Re: Carmines Corner

Though, I'm sure after playing through the form once or twice, i would be throwing a whole tone scale over that G+7 chord. Cuz whole tone scales are sexy!

Re: Carmines Corner

Carmine can go to Hell.

He obviously can't comprehend how a Forum works and wont take the time to figure it out.

so he just gets mad when you ask him a question the same way you would ask an other forum member and says that we are the ones being jerks.

he might be right about the hotshots thing though... I try my hardest to be the biggest hotshot around when I play shows :)

I asked the administrators of the Seymour Dunan forum, who noticed a have quite a following her at SD,as I was receiving so many pm's,and regular emails for help, and instruction,to put an "ASK CARMINE " add on to the SD forum.I was told "That would never happen period".I felt terrible over this, and suggested CARMINES CORNER.Seymour Duncan, the man,and his pu's are spectacular, but unfortnatelty this forum is populated by beginners, and "children" who think they are "hot shots".... So,if you feel differenty PM me,Sincerly,Carmine D'Amico

Seriously, if you spend so much time recording and performing, and are so busy all the time, why do you keep on coming here to load the forum with spam about the gear you use, the people you are sponsored by, and your own forum? If you want to provide advice, browse the tips and clips page and see how you can help people out, and stop putting people like Seafoamer down when you dont know that they actually know more than you think, and HAVE MORE CREDENTIALS than you think.

Twilight Odyssey recently got a record deal, but i dont see him around here every day spamming the boards. He's always around to provide good advice about the gear he uses and even had his own series of exercises in the tips and clips section. THAT'S an SD member to be admired, not somebody who arrives here to simply look down upon people because not all of them are full time guitarrists with degrees in music.

Most members here have full time jobs besides playing guitar on their own as a hobby, so i dont think that you should be referring to them as children who think they are hot shots. You wouldn't like it if a tech called you an idiot because you didn't know how to refret, re-level, and fret dress a neck, especially if that wasn't what you did for a living.
