It'll set you back a whole lot. And that's only if you live in the US/Canada.

It came out way more expensive that I thought, you've got a quite a bit of custom options on your guitar...

The only way you'd get one shipped to you is if you went to your Carvin dealer and asked them how much a guitar with those specs would cost. And knowing that you live in Asia, where the prices get inflated due to taxes/importation costs it'll definitely be even more over there.

Re: Carvin custom shop price?

Though I'd also like to know how much it'd cost with a Wilkinson instead of a Floyd.

And now that I've thought about it, I find it sad that they don't give a non-recessed Floyd option.

I'm gonna have to add that, the instant rebate doesn't apply to buyers outside of the US...

By far your most expensive option is the deep quilt top + headstock. You could save yourself almost 500 USD by going a simpler route.

Another way to save a few bucks would be to go for a C66 instead. Here's a similarly spec-ed C66C:

  • C66C
    Right Handed
    Floyd Rose Tremolo $1,219.00

LN - Floyd Rose Locking Nut $30.00
    -MA - Maple Neck/Alder Body (Standard) $0.00
BGB - Black Gloss Back & Sides $50.00
-CG - Clear Gloss Finish (Standard) $0.00
    QDEL4 - Deep Teal Quilt $150.00
    5MW - 5-Piece Maple Neck w/ 2 Walnut Stripes $120.00
CSN - Clear Satin Finish Back Of Neck (Natural Wood) $70.00
-IN - Inline Headstock (Standard) $0.00
QPH4 - Quilted Maple Headstock Matches Body Finish $40.00
    MF - Maple Fingerboard (Tung-Oiled) $0.00
ABD - Abalone Dot Inlays $20.00
    STJF - Stainless Jumbo Frets .055" H .110" W $40.00
    R10 - 10in Fretboard Radius $40.00
    -C22 - Direct-Mount C22B/C22J Pickups (Standard) $0.00
    -400 - Black Pickups (Standard) $0.00
    G - Gold Hardware $50.00
    -1046E - Elixir Light Gauge .010 - .046 (Standard) $0.00
    BL - Black Logo $0.00
HC10 - Black Tolex Hardshell Guitar Case $90.00
    Custom Shop Total: $1,919.00
    Options Discount: $-100.00

    Sub-Total $1,819.00

It's not a whole lot of saving but it could be significantly more if you simply opted for a Flamed rather than Quilted top and removed some non-essentials like the BGB, 5MW, CSN (tung-oiled it pretty fine) and QPH4 (FPH4 is standard on the C66).

Here's a thusly spec-ed C66, considerably less:

  • C66C
    Right Handed
    Floyd Rose Tremolo $1,219.00

LN - Floyd Rose Locking Nut $30.00
    -MA - Maple Neck/Alder Body (Standard) $0.00
-CG - Clear Gloss Finish (Standard) $0.00
    FDEL4 - Deep Teal Flame $0.00
-IN - Inline Headstock (Standard) $0.00
FPH4 - Flamed Maple Headstock Matches Body Finish $0.00
    MF - Maple Fingerboard (Tung-Oiled) $0.00
ABD - Abalone Dot Inlays $20.00
    STJF - Stainless Jumbo Frets .055" H .110" W $40.00

    BL - Black Logo $0.00
HC10 - Black Tolex Hardshell Guitar Case $90.00
    Custom Shop Total: $1,489.00
    Options Discount: $-100.00

    Sub-Total $1,389.00

Not to be picky, but could you give me the price if you chose the cheapest bridge option.withthe cheapest 5pc maple neck?

Re: Carvin custom shop price?

TBH $1,300 -$2000 is not that much for a guitar to your spec. Still loads cheaper than a LP standard, and if Carvin is as consistent in quality as it is from my experience (I've played/ worked on around 8), its of better quality to begin with.

EDIT: Do you know how to setup a proxy? If so set up a proxy so the website sees you from the US or Canada...then you can see all the small changes for yourself!

With taxes and imports, 1.3k goes to 18.5k...

Re: Carvin custom shop price?

very nice axe man,
wait ... what? no locking nut?

yeah man i dont know why but that's how it was ordered. I have seen others the same. Apparently some folk think the locking tuners replace the job of the nut, personally i think it needs the lock nut.

Re: Carvin custom shop price?

Well, having used Hidemyass, I must say that I now know how much I should save for.

Re: Carvin custom shop price?

That much? Jesus...know anyone in NA? Get them to order and ship it to you as a gift? Or I suppose your import laws and such are much different than here.

I *can* do that. However, I know no one in NA yet. Not to worry, I'm not set on abating my GAS for years. The wait makes it more satisfying

Re: Carvin custom shop price?

40% tax + shipping shouldn't make it any more than $2600. I don't believe VAT is fifteen thousand dollars.

Re: Carvin custom shop price?

40% is what they ask for, 10% is what they normally take, and 40% is what they get unless there's some form of dealing or the tax is paid at the customs.

That type of BS is why I don't want to pay 40% when 10% should suffice.

Of course, if I have a confidant in North America, I could have him or her send it to me, and I get to pay 10% tax, or less if we were dishonest and give the customs false prices ( they're too incompetent to check)

Where ive seen people burned doing that is they list a low price on the customs forms which means you can only insure for that much, then the axe gets damaged in shipping and they are out big cash. Its a risk
