Celtic Franklin Take II

Once again,

OH

MY

GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott, you built a killer amp. A little more tweaking, and I'm almost there. I really liked my tone this morning, although my execution was a bit off:( But it certainly was NOT Franklin's fault. Overall, I really like his ability to cut through the mix regardless of what's going on around. The other electric guitarist tends to be too BUSY and uses too much effects. But Franklin shined through anyway.

I won't say that I will never change anything, but at the moment, I can't imagine why I would. If I needed "bite," Franklin gave me a CHOMP. If I needed warmth, Franklin turned up the heat (Molten Lava?). I used the Twin Tube Classic as my overdrive, and Franklin responded EXCEPTIONALLY well to being overdriven.

I still need a couple of pedals, but that is due to the styles of music and the specific demands of particular songs/arrangements. Franklin sounds great with NOTHING between him and the guitar.

I am FLOORED by how sensitive and interactive the controls are on this beauty.

Here are the settings I ended up with (after turning UP a little midway through the service). Keep in mind that we mic all amps, and we are TRYING to limit stage volume.

That figured maple front panel looks exceptionally killer in that photo. Thanks for the kind words. And, when you get a chance, turn up the Master a bit!

Re: Celtic Franklin Take II

Oh, I've done it at home. It's just a bit much for our overall stage volume, though.;)

The day it was delivered, I rushed home, plugged in, and started playing. When my better half returned from work, I cranked it while she was still in the car in the driveway:

"That thing is LOUD." Immediately followed by a demand that I turn it down:D

BTW, I forgot to mention that those were the settings I used while plugged into the LOW GAIN input.

Also, with the Volume set as it is in the PIC, the tone is just at the edge of breaking up. The Master was set to control the output volume.

Again, great job, Papa Smurf.

Ya'll place yo orders TODAY! He don't need no gummint contract job no how. Swamp him wid yo orders!

Re: Celtic Franklin Take II

Looks really great, man! The grill cloth gives it such a regal appearance. Looks very appropriate for that amp. It just has to sound good!! Nothin like an amp that inspires you to play more; Enjoy, bro!!!

Re: Celtic Franklin Take II

Now this is CLASS!

And it's an order - Scott!

All the above cab needs is a cool logo that lights up and serves as the amps on/off indication light. Who needs jewel lamps when you can have glowing eyes!! LOL!!

Re: Celtic Franklin Take II

We don't need no stinkin' cat eyes! I'm not much on that look personally. Besides, there are a butt load of little lamps to make that work. They go out. PITA. The 110v neons I use last longer. (and looks classier) <ducks>

Re: Celtic Franklin Take II

Hey Stephen.. stop tweaking and just crank the darn thing.. FUGGETABOUTIT!! :D

Larry, I'm having two built at the same time. Yours and another guy wants one in wine with a tan front panel and wheat/goldstripe grill cloth, black leather handle, black corners. It's going to be very pretty looking as well. I'm getting stoked. Transformers and chassis' ordered.

:smokin:

Re: Celtic Franklin Take II

Just took orders for two more Franklins today. Figured I'd throw some matches onto the GAS.

I want a soundproofed music room. We have been thinking about moving, but we might just build a small building in the backyard. "ROCK ON!"
