LesStrat
Reining PunLowered
In a nutshell:
OH
MY
GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scott, you do good work, my brother. NO worries about volume capability. We mic everything anyway. PLUS, this li'l amp can CRANK. I was playing it when my better half drove up from work. I cranked it so she could hear it (in the car). "That's LOUD out there!" was her response.
The controls are REALLY :cool3: The volume and master are interactive, as are the two eq controls. That will take a few more times playing him to master, but so far, DADDY LIKES!!!!!!!!!!
There's only one major problem with this amp. I will try my best to describe it as plainly as I can. It's quite strange, in fact. But bear with me.
I'll have to clean up my playing some more. This thing is so clear that ANY mistake stands out. *stomps on the Twin Tube Classic to cover up*
The cleans are crystal clear with both the Fly Deluxe AND LesStrat (who can be kind of muddy in the wrong signal chain (HR/CR/HR pups).
The amazing thing is that at first I was getting a Fenderesque tone from it (not for me). So I started tweaking the controls. It darkened in a way I liked, but the notes still rang clearly.
I practiced with both the Twin Tube Classic, and the Tweak Fuzz. The TTC was good enough that I took it to church with me. As Rob said elsewhere, Fuzz is not for everybody. Apparently I am in that group. I prefer the overdriven tones of the TTC. I got my TS 9 back tonight to test it. I'll let you know in a day or so how that works.
Back to the SD pedals: Franklin had NO problem with them. A little push from the pedals, and Franklin dirtied up nicely.
Of course, Franklin is capable of getting a nice warm overdrive all on his own. It would be nice to footswitch this, but using an overdrive pedal accomplishes the same goal.
To summarize, I'll quote our soundtech: "It's got that nice, warm tone."
To top it off, this thing is GORGEOUS. Scroll down to Franklin. Yep, that's him in the pics. The pics are a LITTLE more red-tinted than it actually is. It is a rosewood stain that makes him stand out. As T4D said when he test drove it awhile back, "This thing can pass as a nice piece of furniture."
Scott, I'll close with this:
Free advice (that'll cost YOU!!!): BUY A CELTIC AMP!!!!!!!!!!!
