Ceriatone 18W Questions

I just got a Ceriatone 18W, which is a clone of the Marshall 1974. Its original tranny was replaced with a Hammond by the previous owner and the tube rectifier replaced with a SS one (just a bunch of diodes). I since had it "restored" to a tube rectifier (JJ EZ81) but kept the Hammond.

Plugging it into a PPC112 with V30s, I found the tremolo channel significantly brighter than the normal channel. To match the brightness between the 2 channels, I would have to turn the tone knob in the normal channel all the way up. Not that this is an issue since I use darker type distortion pedals a lot.

I have a couple of questions though:

1. Is this difference in brightness "normal"? From what I've read in the WWW, the tremolo channel is supposed to be only a "little brighter", and
2. Is there a way to "turn off" the tremolo on the tremolo channel? I turned the "speed" and "intensity" knobs all the way off, and I can still a tiny bit of tremolo effects.

The previous owner did tell me there were a few more mods done to the amp (besides the tranny and rectifier), so I am not sure if the amp is behaving as it should.

I'm not complaining by the way. I think the amp is great as it is. Would try to crank it up at some point.
