So as the title says i am changing strings on a floyd guitar to pop in my new bareknuckle nailbomb tmo! im very excited but i will also go and get some new strings... i dont want to attempt trying to shove my pickup in with strings already on... so the problem is is that currently i am playing earnie not even slinkies for my drop b setup, the strings i am getting are the not even slinky cobalt version for a little more output as said by many, but i am worried that they will be slightly tighter therefore screwing with intonation? will the cobalt mess with my intonation? i really would like to avoid going to tech to fix intonation, i can work the floyd, so any sort of very small spring adjustments are fine with me, but adjusting the truss rod or intonation is a no, i could learn how but it is a pain and i dont have much time tmo to do it, so i want to be perfectly sure.

Set the intonation 1 string at a time, it's easier than stringing it up then going back and doing it. Tune the string then fret the 12th fret. The fretted note and open string should match. If the fretted note is sharp, move the saddle back. If it's flat, move the saddle forward. Repeat until the fretted note matches the open note. I need to brush up on the truss rod adjusting. I wouldn't think there'd be a need to adjust the truss unless you are changing string gauges. Aren't the cobalts just a coating?

It's a pain in the butt if you have a tremolo system but with patience you will be fine.

Before beginning the string change and adjusting anything, mark the position of the spring tensioning claw. In the event that you dislike the EB Cobalt strings, you can easily revert to the previous type.
Change strings one at a time, as per usual. With all six new strings installed, stretched in and tuned to pitch, check that the baseplate of the double locking vibrato sits parallel to the top of the guitar.
If necessary, adjust the spring tension until the vibrato sits correctly.

i think there might be a coating, but generally they are wound with quite abit more cobalt in the metals around the strings, makes them have more output and clarity supposedly, i heard they feel a tad tigther and a little weird but very good when u get used to them
