Charvel So Cal

Re: Charvel So Cal

All the USA ProMods I owned were bought online froma various retailers, having never played one. I was not disappointed by any of them. If not for my dislike of Strat-shapes, I would still have them.

Re: Charvel So Cal

you guys, you know I just thought of something. Remember Eddie VanHalen's little story about visiting the guitar body factory where the guy told him "those are seconds" and he took one? I guess the neck is quarter sawn and that in itself is pretty stable you would think. one piece solid maple neck should sustain pretty well right? I guess if its a dog I could always shove on titanium saddles on the floyd trem and a titanium claw and block. white is not my favorite color but hell its just a beater anyway right? I have seen dudes with club beater mexican strats doing ok. the Charvels have got to be higher quality then those and most of them sound ok. how much could some bar skeeze bag really tell about tone when he's sloppy drunk anyway? all right this week I'm calling Sigler to chat or at least sending them an E-mail to talk shop. I will post what I find out from them. I don't want the little single inbetween the two P rails. I just want the P rails with the series and parallel wiring option. Now to figure out which way is the best way to switch the tones on the pickups.
all you guys have brought up some interesting points. all good critical thinking and it really helps-thanx to everyone for advice and input thus far

Re: Charvel So Cal

Man, awesome these can be scored for under $600!! I havent tried the newest ones. I would assume they would be decent quality..?? My Japanese one slays, but Japanese quality is hard to beat..

Re: Charvel So Cal

Ran across one of these locally with the Sigler Mod of P-Rails. Interesting for sure but I didn't like the look of it all together.

Re: Charvel So Cal

I called them on friday but they were closed after 5pm there time. my fault something came up and I had to see my girlfriend. I left a message for them asking about a white So Cal with a paisley pickguard and 2 P rails. I guess I will know more monday.

Find out anymore bout the guitar?

Re: Charvel So Cal

I've tried to contact them but I keep just missing them, gunna try again tomorrow. ok I'm busted big time on the girlfriend thing or rather she is.:naughty:

Re: Charvel So Cal

E-mailed them. I may do a 3 way switch and try to do seymour duncan switching system on the pickups. I still want the tone Knobs as well. I want to do my own spit configurations where I decide how I want to split the pickups both front and back and blend them. Plus I think it would be cool to just reach on my pickup to change the tone instead of reaching for a 5 way switch.

Re: Charvel So Cal

Oh good someone dug up this thread. Few days ago at guitar center I tried out a red Japanese Socal. It was used, in good shape, really gaudy red color, had a black pick guard, totally worn down frets and dirty finger smudged fretboard, one volume only HH with Dimarzio's. Yeah I'm not the greatest player in the world and I hate playing out loud in the store but it turned this puny Vox AC12 into a fire breathing dragon. It was total sex.

Too bad i'm in hard up on getting a Les Paul.

Re: Charvel So Cal

Wow, sounds like that one was thoroughly enjoyed. Yeah, charvels have become my favs. I always loved the model series ones, but the oiled necks and all on the reg ones are like home
