Cheap Strats?

Re: Cheap Strats?

Used Carvin Bolt.

Or for a little more a new Carvin Bolt kit.
Then you could assemble, mod, and paint it yourself.

Re: Cheap Strats?

I have heard great things about SX Strats, and great things about Xaviere guitars in general.

The Xaviere "Strat" sounds good to me:
Hand picked woods, hand dressed frets, hand cut GRAPHITE nut… Heck we’ve already upgraded the HELL out of this thing!

We hand pick only the driest, lightest Poplar and Alder. No glue-hogs for us- only 3 piece bodies, finished in super hard, super thin, super light Catalyzed Urethane, hand buffed to a deafening gloss. PLEASE don’t compare these to other sub $200 guitars - compare them to the BEST out there.

We’ve installed only the best- Our own Vintage USA spaced tremolo with full sized sustain block, Full sized Alpha potentiometers for smooth response, a FULL RETAIL SET of famous GFS “Vintage Alnico Staggers” for true vintage tone. The middle pickup is RW/RP so positions 2 and 4 are noise canceling.

$169 takes it home.

Re: Cheap Strats?

Used MIM Fender is the best value in Strats right now.

Also keep an eye out for 80's Fernandes Strats on the used market. They can be had for around $300 and are usually quite excellent.

Another hidden gem is the Squier Pro Tone Strats that were made in the 90's. They had alder bodies, good hardware, and were quite well built. Fender actually stopped making them because they were taking sales away from the MIM line.
