Fender Classic Player 60's Strat, it cost $ 729. ($ 380 less than from MF, long live depression :) and the weak £ and $). It plays ok:cool2:

Re: Cheapest guitar you actually play

I play my Squier Affinity series Strat just about every day. I'd post a pick, but I don't have one readily available. It's just your typical rosewood fretboard black Strat with a black perloid pickguard and black pickups. Nothing too fancy look wise, but it plays way better than any guitar in its price range should. Then again, I dumped more money into that things parts than any reasonable person would spend to upgrade a Squier...

^ +1. Next time I go out for a hollow or semi-hollow, I'm checking out the Ibanez.

Wow. This is nice, DLT. Looks like a big buck guitar.

Thanks guys. :)

Though that particular model - the AF-85 VLS (with the bookmatched flame maple) is no longer being made.

You can still buy the AF-75. Ibanez is also making another line of archtop electric hollow-bodies that have really cool looking tail pieces. I like Ibanez.

Mine is an Ibanez RG370DX. actually got it from a guy free... think he paid 300$ for it. It's kinda ****ed up still, ****ty stock pickups, wont stay in tune, and I tried blocking the trem, but it wont stay in tune still. It's actually a decent player. I do play it sometimes, but you have to play soft or it's tuning just goes way out.

Re: Cheapest guitar you actually play

my sister's squier affinity strat. she hasnt touched it in years, so i modded it. put on a black pickguard, dimarzio parker fly pickup in the bridge, ibanez S1 in the middle, and duncan vintage rails in the neck. V/V/V. since the pic was taken, ive put on 3 black chrome knobs. and this pic was taken when i had an anderson H3 in the bridge.

I'm always looking to shout out for my Ibanez SZ520... Great tone!
With some Pearly Gates in it...

Re: Cheapest guitar you actually play

My strat is a Japanese Squier that I bought for $139. Stock pups were doo, so I swapped em for Bill Lawrences. But the only strats Ive ever found that I like better are over a grand..

The guitar I did most of my learning on is a Squier strat that I bought for about $140. I learned how to mod on that one too. Its still a great axe.

And the cheapest one I have, is a Washburn MG mercury series that I bought for $75. I keep it at work and play on my lunch break..

Re: Cheapest guitar you actually play

That would be my $150 Conn classical that I bought when I was 13. It still sounds really, really good, as opposed to most if not all of the rest of the Conn crap that they built. I think it's in the neck. Beefiest puppy I've ever seen. Anyway, you can hear it on our myspace page in a tune called "At the End of the Day". www.myspace.com/enigmaduo

Re: Cheapest guitar you actually play

I have a picture of this ESP online, but its not "the cheapest" guitar I own. That would be an MIJ Fernandes superstrat with a sustainer pickup in the neck slot. Actually a pretty nice ride... trans purple alder body, 22 fret, H/S/S with a trem. Think that was about $250ish with a duncan custom in the bridge slot... needed a new nut & some other work.

The ESP here was maybe $350? Came with EMG's which didn't last... replaced with CTS, orange drops & went through a few sets of pickups before winding up with gibson P94's.

Re: Cheapest guitar you actually play

MIM Ash Tele that cost ~$400 out the door new. I've since added a 4-way switch and a B/W/B pickguard. It's not a particularly inexpensive guitar but my tastes tend to run more towards booteek stuff.

I also own a Squier Strat that cost me $70 but I don't play it. I just keep it around to remind me that I shouldn't spend good money on a Strat when the tone really isn't my thing.

Re: Cheapest guitar you actually play

My Carlo Robelli acoustic - the Sam Ash people gave it to me for free. I'm guessing it cost about $15 to manufacture, and they sold those brand new for $125 at the time. I actually use it occasionally when making noise with people, and I don't feel like carrying an amp around.

Re: Cheapest guitar you actually play

What is the definition of Cheap here? Price or construction?

I can say I paid only $100 for an Epi LP, but spent another few hundred on upgrades.....

I can say I paid only $400 on an $800 guitar, that I'll probably end up spending another couple of bills on for PUs, but doesn't really need it.

To me, both guitars are priceless now, compared to the guitar I DIDN'T have a few months ago!

I agree John, I have a late '80s Fernandes that rocks. Just bought a new neck from J. Moose because the old one is abused. The body construction on these is top notch. Look forward to slapping the new neck on and probably some new electronics too.

Peace,

Re: Cheapest guitar you actually play

I've got an "SPower" plastic bowl acoustic,Ovation knock off with tigerburst photoflame top,rosewood-ish jazz box style bridge and F holes.
Possibly the ugliest guitar ever built, with the exception of quite a few of Gibsons latest "achievements" :naughty:......
It's tuned to open E and sits next to the computer to be played while things download (I'm still on dial-up)
As a straight steel string acoustic - It's total crap!
But with a slide,it does a passable impersonation of a resonator guitar.
COST?: I brought some body panels for my track roadster and a second hand dog bed off a bloke at a swap meet.
I asked him how much for the guitar? He says $70
I said No worries,I think I'll leave it. He says,Errrr....how's $5.00 sound?
So it came home with me.

Cheers,PJ
