Chickenhead Knobs Revisited

BTMN

LifeIsGoodologist
Great Sunday afternoon during the NASCAR rain delay.

So I have had Chickenhead knobs on a few guitars for a while. Most notably my '04 Dean USA Pro Series Z.

Along with my '05 Dean korean P90 Z, Victoria,

Or my '06 Dean Korean Trans Green Z, MGZ,

and the Mighty Hamer Daytona Mite too.

Last week I picked up a few more of these Pointy lil things.

First off I took the Black knobs off the Mighty Hamer Daytona Mite and put them on my 1996 Hamer USA Korina Standard.

Then I put Cream Chickenheads on MHDM

Thanks! The guy at the amp parts store always looks at me a lil twisted when I go get them. :scratchch :approve: :cool2:

Re: Chickenhead Knobs Revisited

First, the top on MHDM is stunning.. (SPROING!!! :naughty:)
Next, I always thought chick head knobs were goofy looking on amps even and then one day it hit me how perfect they were to see where you are.. And then on Your axes, they look so cool, but Im now sure I could be that bold on mine..

Re: Chickenhead Knobs Revisited

My dad used to call me chicken head when I was a kid.

I dig them Gene. It's one of your trademarks.

If you had a sig model - it would have ch knobs.

They rule on Victoria.

Re: Chickenhead Knobs Revisited

Someone with OCD is gonna go berserk because of that 7th pic.

Nah, that's far enough out of whack it's obviously intentional. It's the Baby Z that's driving me nuts. Almost straight but misaligned. Please tell me one of the the pots is just slightly rotated.

Re: Chickenhead Knobs Revisited

Volume knob must not have been turned completely to 11. :23: :32: :13:

Hard to belive MHDM started out looking like this...

As far as being bold, it's just knobs. :dunno: Anyone givin' ya grief is just jealous they didn't think to impliment it when they seen it. :1: :23:

Who needs a number when ya got direction. :friday:

I stole it from a picture I seen of an ML Dimebag had. I am hardly a fan like many but for sure admire his gusto for the guitar to the Nth degree. :headbang:

Re: Chickenhead Knobs Revisited

I tried 'em once on an old partocaster I had. Looked like a pile of crap. Yours however, look pretty damn good.

Re: Chickenhead Knobs Revisited

I'm always tempted to change the knobs on my guitars, maybe one day I'll get the courage to do so

I was just gonna say I like them on amps, because you can just look at the amp from wherever you are and see where your amp is set. For guitars...not for me.... They look cool though

Re: Chickenhead Knobs Revisited

Thanks gents! :13: :23:

I wish I could find the shot of Dime with the Chickenhead knobs. I had been wanting to do it forever especially on the Explorer style guitar bodies. When I saw it on his ML, I went and got some via Evilbay and a local amp builder/supplies guy, and finally did the Trans Green Z, Pro Series Z, P90 Z, and this ML.

It's all in the angles. See, I know where the sound level of the guitar is by where the knob points. Straight down is off, in line with the lower horn is full on, pointing at the bridge/pickup is about 7 and usually sounds pretty good with all in the same orientation. :scratchch :approve: :cool2:

You wouldn't have any problem either after you played it a short time period. Do it UP! :headbang:
