Re: What Guitars Did You Buy...
orpheo those are some really nice guitars. What are they? Aside from that one that is clearly a Warmoth and the last three Gibsons I can't tell what most of those are.
those last 3 are gibsons, ALL the others, are warmoth. ALL of them were showcase bodies, except for the purpleheart/rosewood top. it took me a lot of effort and 'pulling strings' to get that body done, that way. They weren't happy about doing 2 piece indian and singlepiece purpleheart I believe

but the tone is epic...that guitar has 3 pickups, designed by me, wound by Jon Moore, Canada. they're basicly a 59/custom hybrid with alnico 5 slugs and an alnico 8 bar. and the tone is wide, broad, dynamic and harmonically loaded!
The green one was an ebay-purchase... 995$!!! shipping and gigbag included; how could I let that one go?! I only bought it, cause the blue one was in the showcase (with that neck, I've been eyeballing that one for ages, and now I had the money, cause I sold 2 gibson LP customs :bling: ). the body was dirt cheap, for warmoth-standards. the koa top is my second koa-topped Les Paul, and the walnut is one I wanted too, for quite some time. Here, the necks were custom made, but the bodies were 'off the shelve', and with the purpleheart one, all was custom...
and I can hear the question brewing: why warmoth, not gibson? afterall: its got the dreaded bolt on neck! Well, for starters, I dont mind bolt on, as long as the neck pocket is tight. There are no gaps or voids whatsoever. Even on my 10 year old warmoth, the neckpocket is tight as it was the day it came out of the factory. The upperfretaccess is better than at a gibson, and: there's more wood-to-wood-contact than on a gibson-neck. more of the 'important' contact. with a gibson, you have a lot of contact at the sides (the plane parallel to the strings) and imho, thats not the right surface, you want contact at the 'bottom' of the neck (where warmoth has the turtle stamp). The vibrations go in a longitudinal direction, and the more contact at the bottom, the more transfer of 'tone' you have, so to say. Its really true, I don't notice any negative thing of the bolt on, except for a bit more clarity, but that can also be due to the pickups and woods I choose.
Here's a family shot of the first 8:
oh, yeah, before I forget: that semihollow les paul-guitar, is a Custombuild, handmade guitar from England, a CrimsonGuitars Guitar

I have 2 more build by that luthier, and I'll post pics when there are pics to post
some specs: pau ferro/wenge/maple laminated neck, snakewood binding, maple purfling, ebony board, rosewood top on purpleheart. Bocote/bubinga/maple neck, snakewood binding etc etc, wenge top on padouk. on both: wood multiply binding ala LP custom (maple, rosewood, ebony, wenge), headstock designed by me, headstock inlay: by me. celtic cross inlay, real MoP, 22 6100 stainless steel frets, 18mm headstock in stead of the usual 15mm, and the list goes on and on and on
