Choose your own adventure: nano board!

I'm thinking of setting up a "B" rig based around my Mark V head in 10W mode into a 1x12 cab. This B rig will have its own very small pedal board.

So, let's see what you guys would do. It will likely be on a Pedaltrain Nano, which can accommodate four MXR-sized pedals. Here are the pedal types I will be needing:

- Tuner
- Overdrive (low-medium gain)
- Phaser
- Delay

What pedals would you pick out for this wee little board?

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

Korg Pitchblack tuner
Some sort of TS (Analogman Silver is nice, but stock ones are fine too)
MXR Phase 90
MXR Carbon Copy (or a Boss DD-7 if you need longer delay times)

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

Tuner: TC Electronics Polytune or Polytune Mini
Overdrive: MXR Classic Overdrive
Phaser: Whirlwind Orange Box (made by the guys who started MXR BITD)
Delay: TC Electronics Flashback

For the record, this is almost EXACTLY the same set of pedals I chose when I first thought about this (I chose MXR block logo Phase 90 instead of the Whirlwind, but other than that, exactly the same).

HAHA! Great minds think alike. I haven't personally tried the Orange Box but JeffB has one and likes it quite a bit. If you want the old script logo circuit, check it out.

I have a Maxon PT999 on my main board. It's supposed to be a high quality script clone and I love it to pieces, so I bet I'd have a similar reaction to the Orange Box.

For the nano board though, I think I'll want a more dramatic phaser because I'll need it to cover a lot more ground. The main board also has an MXR Micro Flanger, a Boss CE-2, and an M5. I'm not expecting or wanting something that can do all of that, but a more in-your-face phaser would at least get me in that ballpark.

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

Phaser: VFE Enterprise
OD: Timmy
Delay: Way Huge Echo-Puss

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

Do you need digital or analog delay?

Polytune Mini
Timmy
Phase 90 (w/ R28 mod... cheap and sounds great)
DD-7 (if you want digital)
then since you saved room with the Polytune Mini... get (or make) one of those compact tap tempo's to go with your DD-7

Other possibilities:

Plimsoul for your OD

Line 6 Echo Park for your delay if you need some versatility and tap tempo

Memory Toy for delay if you want analog

Carbon Copy for delay might work for you, but is a bit dark IMO

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

Tuner: Sonic Research Turbo Tuner
Overdrive: Fulltone Plimsoul
Phaser: MXR '74 Vintage Phase 90
Delay: Strymon Timeline or Boss DD-7 if price is more of an issue

That would seem to be a board well suited for both clean and dirty use.

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

1) Korg Pitchblack
2) Fulltone OCD
3) EH Small Stone Nano
4) TC Flashback

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

i have a little board already. its got a little korg gt3 tuner on it but i never use it. i hate what the boss tu2 does to the sound/feel of things so i never use it in line, always just lives on top of the amp

red dot sunface->jetter red shift->timmy->deja vu

three very different dirt boxes, the first two both stack well with timmy for a lot of variety.

with the deja vu i can get some modulation with the delay time all the way down and obviously the delay when i need it and ive gotten really adept at getting what i need out out it.

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

-Korg Pitchblack
-Rat (or Green Rhino, if I just wanted a little overdrive or boost)
-Boss PH-3 (I neve use phasers, but this one seems interesting)
-Boss RV-3 (because it's the best pedal ever and you didn't leave me a spot for a seperate reverb)

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

Does it have to be those pedals? :P

If it does...

Fender PT-100 (It works)
Nobels ODR-1
Electric Mistress
Carbon Copy

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

Firstly, forget the tuner, that's what Snarks and headstocks are for...

1) Xotic AC Booster
2) Mod Tone Funk Filter
3) Boss CE-3
4) Boss DD-20

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

me ...

- Tuner: Turbo
- Overdrive (low-medium gain): Screwdriver
- Phaser: Keeley
- Delay: DD7

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

Poly Tune (mini to make room for the delay!)
BMF Purple Nurple (if you can't handle the Nurple maybe the El Jefe)
MXR Phase 45 reissue(my fav phaser right now)
Aqua Puss MK II (best analog delay pedal on the market IMHO)

Re: Choose your own adventure: nano board!

Tuner: Sonic Research Turbo Tuner
Best strobe tuner on the market and it's small.

Overdrive: Ibanez TS808
A classic. You can't go wrong, especially with this circuit and the more traditional effects pedal switch (never did like those touchy square ones).

MXR Phase 90 w/ R28 mod or just get the script logo RI Phase 90
I'd have chosen the Red Witch Moon Phaser, but given the dimensions it wouldn't fit with what you want.

Maxon AD900
My favorite analog delay. Mine stopped my search and it's one of the last things I'd sell if it came down to it. It's not true nano size, but still small enough to fit into most spaces.

Those are actually the pedals I have on my gigging board (plus a wah). Don't think you'll go with my choices though....

Boss TU-2
Digitech Bad Monkey
Joyo Vintage Phaser
Seymour Duncan Deja Vu
