Cleaning and polishing a pickguard

Hello all. I was wondering what you all use to clean your pickguards, namely adhesives from the plastic film, and also, what do you polish the pickguard with to make it shiny again?

Benzene to rid off the glue residue.

I didn't have any benzene, so I used lighter fluid and meguiars plastx on it. Worked like a charm.

This stuff works great. Been using it for years. You can buy it online all over the place.

I always used 90% rubbing alcohol.

I never used anything but guitar polish before...looks like the Novus stuff will do great for light pickguard scratches.
