clips of Fillmore pups

Re: clips of Fillmore pups

Sounds nice...and slick playing, bud!

Re: clips of Fillmore pups

nice playing, nice tone as well......
as most people know here, lol, im a duane head. basically im obsessed.

with that said, i honestly didnt think that the pickup sounded that much like duanes. could have been because you used a tremendous amount more gain than he did, but i think this pup sounds almost identicle to a 59 or c-5 or something, and not really like the paf's duane had.

Re: clips of Fillmore pups

Trying to nail someone's tone is always subjective. IMHO a PuP may put
you in the right direction, But you need the chops and phaseing ,vibe to get
you the rest of the way. the right guitar and Amp and speakers will help.
But without the former it's just not gonna happen. These Fillmore PuPs
sound good But I can't help but feel it's a marketing ploy. These PuPs
are pricey to!! You can get 2 Duncans for the price of a Fillmore. :yell:
Here's a clip of me from 92' playing a LP w/t a Duncan 59er into a Marshall
(valvestate :blackeye: of all amps!!) at the time I was more concerned
with playing the solo, Not pegging his tone. But in retrospec I think I
got pretty close with a modest setup ??? Like I said... It's all subjective :smack:
Duane's Tone ?

The Fillmore name is definitely a marketing thing (as are the names of most products), but they are darn good pickups nonetheless.

Looking forward to hearing that clip, K, I can't d/l it now.

Check out this clip of Fillmores in an R8 Les Paul through a JTM 65 and tell me it's not dead-on Duane.

its not dead on duane.

its close, and it has a really great tone, but the playing is a little fishy, and the phraseing isnt the same. the "whisps" if you know what i mean, well, its not duane. it sounds close to his sound, but its a little off. could be because duane wasnt reacording to a computer as well.....

nice playing. nice tone.

as to the duane tone, this i close to the album sound, not the fillmore sound. its very close to the sound off the record. differences i found were this, even though duane didnt use much gain, this was lacky a little extra "push", so to speak. also, you seemed a little tentitive on the solo, like you were trying to match every note duane played. loosen up! thats what the allman's were all about, loose improve go with the flow playing!

is that a band backing or a backing track also? lol

no BT :laugh2: I did'nt cut throught in the mix, A tube screamer would
have done the trick (but I didn't have one there?) And I was playing it safe :smack: (and I still droped a few notes :blackeye: ) :laugh2:

BTW, I think that was recorded at a gig we played for the Hell's Angel's :saeek: Kinda Scary playing for them Fella's !!:13: :laugh2:

Re: clips of Fillmore pups

Hey guys if your interested here are 2 clips I did recently. The second one is only the solo part as I haven't fnished the vocals yet. The first is done. Actually it is the full song to the clip in this thread. I am mainly a singer, but guitar is my love. Started when I was 15yo. Played for 2 years and quit. Then boom picked one up last year and I am hooked. Only regret waiting so long to start again. Feel old....
Anyway my dream is to one day play gig singing AND playing guitar. Once I get over the confidence thing. If people are in the same room with me I can't jam my fingers turn to stone and my mind locks up.
Anyway just right click and save.

No way.... that ain't his wife..... come on!

Yes it is, I've posted a few various pics of her holding my guitars in the past. I took that Hooter pic myself to respond to an anti-Hooters thread over at HC. It turned out so nice, I made it my new avtar.

Re: clips of Fillmore pups

Ahhh so you live in Southern Calif.... OC man home of the girls with the racks. Any way nice stuff. If my wife saw me writing this she'd kill me.
