Confused by S/P wiring diagrams

I want to rewire one of my axes. Currently it has a bog standard "H-H/Vol/Tone" setup, Jazz in the neck and JB in the bridge.
The plan is to replace the tone pot (it's always maxed out anyway) with a two-way on-on DPDT toggle switch and connect the neck 'bucker to it so I can go between series and parallel. The bridge will remain in standard series wiring.

I'm looking at diagrams online and even the ones from Seymour Duncan don't seem to be internally consistent. Comapring the two SD ones here, the wiring for S/P looks completely different from one another - in the latter the red and white wires are even soldered together.

What am I missing here? Can anyone verify whether the third one (taken from https://guitarelectronics.com/humbucker-series-parallel/) is correct or not?

The first one is series/parallel of the two pickups. The second one is series/parallel coils of the one pickup. That's the one you want for your neck pickup.

Got it sorted. Christ, soldering ground to chassi on that toggle switch may be one of the worst jobs I've ever had to do. Never again.

Also discovered how piss-poor the original wiring was. The insides look like a prop from a Fallout game now, but at least half the pickup wires aren't just hanging on by a thread anymore (was just a matter of time until the ground wire on the bridge pickup would've snapped off).

That's a nice-looking guitar, what is it? (and I hope those picks are just taped to the edge!)
Thanks! Yes, just tape. Comes right off if needed and the residue is (usually) easily cleaned off.

It's a MIJ Jackson Dinky, a 2011 build IIRC. When I got it the pots were pretty crusty and the base plate for the trem was bent, so they all had to be swapped. Bit of a shame, as the design is actually really good, they just cheaped out on materials. I think a Floyd Rose Pro would drop right in there, but didnt have one at hand. So now it has a Schaller Lockmeister in there. The fit looks a bit off but it works as intended.
