They're ideal for rock/metal amps within a reasonable budget. I think I'd be more inclined to choose that amp in a head/cab setup, just because it's designed as a highgain amp, and the bottom will be tighter. It gets a little loose in an open back combo......although the cleans will open up and sound less focused.

I just played through my Buds last night and was suprized how good it sounded! I had a Crate way back when and it was an SS amp. He has the BV 60 combo. It's a blue/purple covering. I really enjoyed playing through it. I was runing my PUE5 tube in the front. I was suprized at the "throatiness" of it. I'm used to playing el84 amps so the big bottles always sound huge to me.
