Re: cream back Celestions???

I was just searching the Plexi Palace......I read something a while back that had a "history" of Celestions on it & I remember seeing the cream backs, but I can't find the thread or link.

Sorry !

Thats all good...I even pulled out my Marshall book and read through the chapter on Celestion speakers...no luck there either!

Re: cream back Celestions???

I stumbled upon it when I was trying to date my old 4x12 cab & the speakers in it. I may have it bookmarked at home....I'll check.

Re: cream back Celestions???

From the Celestion website-
"The Greenback explained"
Although the standard colour for G12M rear covers was green ('field green' it was called originally), G12M and G12H speakers were also made with black, as well as grey, beige and cream rear covers at various times. This was probably due to a shortage of the correct colour plastic to make them from (e.g. late delivery of the raw material). The different colour covers were only a cosmetic change not affecting the acoustic performance of the speakers in any way. Black, grey, cream, beige or green, they're all 'Greenbacks'.

Re: cream back Celestions???

That must've come from the link I was looking for....looks the same.

My main curiousity came from mine having the black surround. The cab is from the early 70s & I was trying to date the speakers to see if they were the originals.
