My two amps: Probably weirder than my guitars actually.
Fender Libra, they made these for about 2 minutes in 1970. 100 watts, 4x12, Alligator Tolex, sparkly cloth, it sounds (and looks) a bit err transparent at the moment as it has no speakers :smack:
I formerly would play it through my singer's mesa cabinet, through which it actually sounded godly. PERFECT jangly, clean fender tone. Distortion? Who knows. I could turn it up to 10 and it WOULD NOT distort :laugh2:
(for distortion I'd borrow my singer's Fender... somethingorother, it was a custom shop hand wired tube head into that same mesa cab. That explains why I've never had a need for a decent pedal, haha)
The Libra has the most amazing reverb tank I've ever heard. It really is gorgeous, and I've never heard another amp or pedal that could touch it that way.
And yes, unfortunately this amp lies mostly dormant at the moment as I'm too cheap to get it the speakers it needs, though originally it ought to have come with JBLs from the logo. I acquired this when a friend bought it for $100 for just the (bronco) knobs, stripped them, and sold em for $20 each (there are ten of them lol) I got the carcass.
My only complaint: tremolo doesn't work
Anyway...
Jordan Trouper J1232#@$#@ somethingorother, it has a 12" speaker and is apparently 60 watts.
My uncle had this and used it for bass in the 70s (I can't IMAGINE him playing a bass through it. I've played bass through it. It's muddy as hell)
If it was originally a bass amp I don't know, but it's too muddy to actually be used as one, as a guitar amp though it passes muster slightly better and can just be considered very "warm".
Basically my uncle died and this sat in the closet til my grandma wanted more closet space, my Uncle got there in time for his Sunn Beta Lead head
smack
, I got this. I like the sparkly cloth and aesthetics.
It's VERY sensitive to the newness of the strings on the axe used with it for some reason. No midrange control, but a very trippy tremolo effect that has a wide range.
This won't distort either.
