Dave Gilmour is mental!

Re: Dave Gilmour is mental!

Apart from cliches like "tone is in the hands" e.t.c David Gilmour has always had amazing tone...........from the days of pompei to the huge racks of the division bell tour...........When you have to reproduce sounds from 35 years ago (and do it well........in the way the floyd do it....), and you've been for 40 years one of the top names in the music industry it is obvious 7 boss stompboxes won't be enough..........

David Gilmour just plain kicks ass. Highly underated IMO. Go Dave Go! :D

I'd love to have all of that, but I'd bet you would need to acquire it one or two pieces at a time. Otherwise, it would be way too much to go through. :smash:

Re: Dave Gilmour is mental!

Vernon Reid would have to be up there as a candidate for 'most out of control rig' too. When I saw Living Colour, he was running two full refrigerator racks taller than himself plus another about half that size. His pedalboard was so big it was in three parts.

Re: Dave Gilmour is mental!

Oh, Vernon, another favorite of mine. Living Colour is freakin' awesome. . .

And I'm sure you play in front of as many fans as he does on any given night.

Perhaps Mike was trying to say that that gear wasn't necessary because either way, Gilmour's playing will be divine.

Re: Dave Gilmour is mental!

What i love about Gilmour's tone/playing is that it's sooo tasteful, restrained at times and then outrageous and strange the next. I've never seen them live, but legend has it he likes it silly-loud (which i like) - in the studio and live. Respect. Aaaaaah, and tone on Shine On.....

....continues gushing.....
