Dc-2

Anyone ever used this Boss pedal? I have seen some great reviews of it, and since I love 80s chorus I jumped the gun and got one on eBay, for just a little bit more than half of what they usually cost:

Seems like it is is good condition, so I guess the reason why it went cheap was that the seller wouldn't ship to the States. Oh well, his loss is my gain, and if I don't like it, I think I'll be able to sell it again without any loss.

What does it sound like? I've heard people say that Jake E Lee used it during his Ozzy years. I love that effect drenced tone he had when playing live, anyone know if this will bring me closer to that? Or anyone have anything to say about it in general?

The DC-2 is an awesome chorus. Instead of knobs, it just has buttons to access the 4 presets. The reason I chose the DC-3 over the DC-2 was that I prefer knobs. The DC-3 is similar in tone, but the sounds can be fine-tuned.

Ah, now you're talking about one of my faves. I have two DC-2's, and it's the only chorus type pedal I use. I'm not a fan of chorus generally, in fact I have a CE-1 that stays at home, but one of the acts I work with had a lot of hits here in the late 80's and a lot of the guitar parts require a chorus. The Dimension C was Boss' attempt at a pedal version of the Roland Dimension D, the ubiquitous spatial mod rack unit found in every decent recording studio in the 80's. It's different to chorus in that it doesn't consume the whole sound, like say a CE-2 does, but it adds a beautiful spacious shimmer to the sound, and even handles overdriven sounds quite well. The four presets range from a very mild modulation through to a fast Leslie setting (No 4) You can also get a 5th sound by tricking the switches to all be in the 'out' position. Stunning in stereo, a great mod pedal to give you something much more interesting than chorus. Position No 2 is my favorite.

Yeah, on the DC-3, when you crank up the rate, it doesn't cause that weird vibrato sound which most choruses make.

Re: Dc-2

Sounds awesome. I was thinking about getting the dc-3 instead, but I found this for cheap. Besides, I like the idea with only 4 prests with the ultimate settings on (because I have not yet heard a single person saying that only one or two of the settings were actually usefull).

I love the thing people say about how it is pretty "in front" on cleans, but dissapears a little bit when you use distortion. I use an ADA MP-1, and it has a built in chorus that is good enough when you want a drenced chorus sound, but it doesn't really do subtle choruses at all.

In that case, I predict that you're gonna love it...all of the settings are cool, they get denser from 1 to 3, and then 4 is the mild fast thing. All buttons out is a really subtle shimmer. I don't think you'll be using the MP-1 chorus once you've got your Dimension C.

Re: Dc-2

I doubt that as well. It works okay for the very heavy chorused sounds like something Quiet Riot or W.A.S.P. would use, but that generally isn't the kind of chorus I'm after.

How does the magic 5th setting sound?
