Dean Professional Series

Re: Dean Professional Series

Well, it doesn't look like the normal work coming out of the Custom Shop, so I am sorry this process has not gone smoothly. I hesitate to offer an opinion on this situation as I know nothing about this other than what was posted here. I hope they get back to you and resolve this issue for you. Please let us know how this turns out. Hopefully you can call them up and send them these pictures.

I already contacted them explaining the issues.

I've never even seen that sort of work on the worst of the worst cheap-o pickups...but this was done by one of the most well known and respected pickup winders/technicians in the world.

I don't even see how this happens in the first place. How does this get missed, when someone has to turn the pickup over and clearly look at the bottom in order to solder the covers one? How do you miss that the cover is on so crooked when you have to look right at the joint between baseplate and cover in order to solder it? The only way you can miss that is if your eyes are quite literally elsewhere. I saw it in half a second, without even looking for issues, and I'm not even a pickup maker.

...but then, even once the mistake has been made for whatever reason, how the hell does it get "passed" to leave the shop? Are you telling me that a final Q.C. check is not standard for every pickup leaving the shop?

Dear Seymour Duncan company,

Anytime you'd like to discuss such things, send me a PM

Re: Dean Professional Series

Heard back from the Custom Shop today. I would like to think that it was in response to my service inquiry via the Website, but perhaps it was because of my recent updates here in this thread. Either way, they said sorry for the work being done that way, and please let us send you a new set of Seths made to your specs. That's a very kind and tempting offer. I really just want the Dean pickups fixed, though, which I'm sure they'll do.

So, it took a while to get the response, but they did start taking care of it.

Re: Dean Professional Series

What a mess. I get that NAMM just wrapped up and all but man, in this day and age, that kind of response time is simply crazy. And the way the whole thing went is even crazier.

This isn't the first time I've heard of such things with the CS. That work should be perfect every time. It's stuff like this that makes we want to sell 'em all and go elsewhere.

That said, a set of Seths to your specs is a nice gesture. But having what YOU want from the start is the right way to fix it.

Re: Dean Professional Series

I am happy the end result is a good one. I knew they'd make it right.
