Re: Dean Professional Series
I already contacted them explaining the issues.
I've never even seen that sort of work on the worst of the worst cheap-o pickups...but this was done by one of the most well known and respected pickup winders/technicians in the world.
I don't even see how this happens in the first place. How does this get missed, when someone has to turn the pickup over and clearly look at the bottom in order to solder the covers one? How do you miss that the cover is on so crooked when you have to look right at the joint between baseplate and cover in order to solder it? The only way you can miss that is if your eyes are quite literally elsewhere. I saw it in half a second, without even looking for issues, and I'm not even a pickup maker.
...but then, even once the mistake has been made for whatever reason, how the hell does it get "passed" to leave the shop? Are you telling me that a final Q.C. check is not standard for every pickup leaving the shop?
Well, it doesn't look like the normal work coming out of the Custom Shop, so I am sorry this process has not gone smoothly. I hesitate to offer an opinion on this situation as I know nothing about this other than what was posted here. I hope they get back to you and resolve this issue for you. Please let us know how this turns out. Hopefully you can call them up and send them these pictures.
