Decent headphones for about £50?

Hey, title says it all really.

To be used mainly for music production and listening to records (neighbours were getting angry).

I was thinking a par of sennheiser HD465 or HD215, found them on sale about my price range.

So anyone got any ideas?

That isn't the price range I was looking at when I bought my headphones, but the best website I found was whathifi. It gives ratings and professional reviews of quite a lot of them

Save your cash and get a pair of Koss Porta Pros.
If you want a real upgrade, go with the entry level Grados.

I'm really fond of my Sennheiser HD280 Pro's but I'm not sure what they run you in your area. I've got two pairs of them and they are my absolute favorites for tracking and headphone mixing but not sure I'd wear them for recreational listening as they get to be a bit taxing on the skull.

Sennheiser HD 280s are really popular. I use Shure SRH440s which have detachable cords and replaceable ear pads. The cheaper Sennheiser HD 201s are better for ipods and iphones as they emphasize bass much better than ear buds. The Shure SRH 240s are good for casual listening. The Koss Porta Pros are great for casual listening, but I destroyed many pairs of them in the 1990s because they aren't too sturdy. You want a neutral balanced pair for recording and mixing. You can use another regular headphone pair for casual listening.

One of my favorite selling points of the HD 280's is that almost every piece of them is replaceable and user serviceable so if something does happen to get broken or torn up, the entire pair of headphones isn't scrap. It can be cheaply and easily repaired.
