Me too! They are terrible. Grainy and not that sweet. Macintosh are my favs, followed by Honeycrisp.

I think the Red Delicious is the iconic shape and flavor of Apple

When they drew pictures of apples in kindergarten they were Red Delicious

When someone says apple it's what instantly comes to mind

heck even this my phone shows an emoji of a Red Delicious

I'll give you that, they are iconic looking. But I think they tasted better when I was younger. They have juicier, sweeter apples now.

red delicious is mostly a texture and sweetness thing, which is why i like granny smith. different texture and less sweetness. there are TONS of variety of apples out there. we are lucky that we have some great orchards around
