Did anyone ever try the Thrash Factor?

Re: Did anyone ever try the Thrash Factor?

I haven't but its based off of one of Dave's fav JB's from that time period so if I were to make an educated guess an antiquity JB would be extremely close, or even an 80's JBJ. (Juarez wound, but any winder's pups are arguably close to her's in most respects as far as materials)

A rough cast A5 would be one of the major items here.

Re: Did anyone ever try the Thrash Factor?

It honestly seems like one of Duncan's niche pups. The Thrash Factor to most people probably seems like a JB minus the confirmation of hundreds of online reviews to back up the decision to purchase the pup.

Re: Did anyone ever try the Thrash Factor?

Were these used in his Dean signature?

Re: Did anyone ever try the Thrash Factor?

And ironically the Jake E. Lee signature pickup is only available in the guitar and not over the counter. I think all pickups should be available both ways and its frustrating and confusing to say the least.
There are more examples of this same thing where you can get one or the other...Im sure you guys can think of some examples.

There are times when there are special agreements between the pickup maker and the manufacturer. That means someone who buys the guitar has access to a very special pickup, and this benefits both companies. If, say, SD decided said 'no' to this sort of arrangement, another company would provide it. Usually the agreements prevent both the guitar company and the pickup company from offering one without the other.

^ I didn't know that was a shop floor custom option!!!

Re: Did anyone ever try the Thrash Factor?

Too gaudy looking as is.

If they had dressed it just like the nazgul-series it would sell much better IMO.
Maybe a small black TF opposite the black duncan logo,,,, just to be sig- "special".

Re: Did anyone ever try the Thrash Factor?

Picked up one on ebay & swapped the magnet to a 1.5x ceramic. Mine reads 16.85k It appears to be wound with that red wire like the black winter is. I'll report back when I install it. I imagine it's going to sound a lot like an sh-6

Re: Did anyone ever try the Thrash Factor?

Well there it is. It has it's own sound. I put a 1.5x ceramic in a JB before and it sounded 95% similar to a distortion. This has a different mid focus, sort of like the black winter. Less bass than I expected. I'm digging it. I also removed the Dave Mustaine signature because i thought it was ugly. It replaced a Nazgul. I used to love the nazgul but I've gotten sick of it. It didn't sit well in any guitar. It has a lot of weird low mids. That's a 1x ceramic sentient in the neck. I'm on a ceramic kick lately. They just sound & respond great IMO.

Looks like a thrashy set. Props for putting ceramic in the neck. I'd love to hear the clean toanz.
