Did My Pickup Die on Me?

Hey-

Here's one for all the tech guys out there. I was jamming today on my Schecter Omen 7, and something very strange happened. What started as a little crackle whenever I selected the bridge SH-5 pup developed into a full-blown staticy buzz with very little/no signal. The neck SD '59 is unaffected, and sounds normal with no buzz or static when I put the 3-way switch to the neck pup position.

I checked the solder connections and ground wires- good
I checked the input jack connection- good
I inspected the 3-way toggle switch and noticed nothing unusual.

I do notice that whenever I tap the SH-5 bridge pup, the signal intermitantly cuts in and out. I want to say it feels like there's a loose wire/connection within the pup. Anyone ever had this happen to them before? I'm considering removing it and sending it in for warranty service. Your expert advice is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks.

Very unusual, but it can happen...

If you have a multimeter unsolder the pickup from the switch or volume control (whichever it's connected to) and measure the DC reistance of the pickup.

You should get about 14.4K.

If you don't, you have a problem with the pickup.

That's a 4 conductor pickup...do you have the red and white wires soldered together?

Maybe that connection has come loose...
