Did the Seymour logo on pups change over the years?

I'm just wondering if I'm seeing an older pickup, or a pickup that someone tried to 'restore' or put a Seymour logo on that wasn't there before.

The lettering looks thick/blocky on this one

Don't really notice. I try to get mine without the logo for the most part. I think the BW logo may be different from the regular logo. But I do see what you're talking about. Interesting.

Yeah. And it comes in multiple sizes to boot. I have at least 3 types of SD Logos of normal size and one with a tiny logo.

probably they just improved their screen printing capabilities. no big deal.

It has changed...don't know for sure when if how many times but it is different for sure.

They changed the logo a year or two ago. It was after I left so I couldn't tell you when they went into production with it. Maybe someone from Duncan can chime in with an actual date. See the logo up top on these pages? They changed the company logo font a little, and made Duncan bolder than Seymour. They also beveled the edges of the "S". So now the pickups come with the new font, but the Duncan is not bold, it's all the same weight.

It's still the same machine they show in all the shop tour videos on YouTube and what not. Its a pad printer where a rubber pad goes down into ink that's squeegee'd into a piece that has the logo negative. The rubber pad picks up the ink and then stamps it on the bobbin or cover.

So there is variance from one logo to the next, like in the OP links. Some are fatter, some are thinner with a few pinhole air pockets. That's normal. Sometimes that can make two pickups look like they have different logos but it's just variance. But the new logo is actually different. If you're totally OCD and want your logos to match, you have to get two old ones or two new ones.

To clarify my intent with the question, I was just trying to figure out whether the pickups for sale were real legit Duncans, or if someone was trying to counterfeit.

If they are fake someone went to a lot of trouble to do so. New base plates, logos, etc. you are worrying for nothing IMO.

It looks legit and yes we did change the logo on 1/2/13.

I think it's just one of the many changes that were made when Cathy took over.

Kinda saying there's a "new world order" established at the Seymour Duncan Co?
