Diezel VH-4 Clip... Wierd Mic Placement

I had no intention of posting this since it is total improvisational rubbish but I figured some of you may be interested. This is my Diezel VH-4 into a Bogner 2X12 with Vintage 30s. I had the tape rolling while I tested various mic placements on the Bogner cab. For some reason, I didn’t really care for my initial recordings using my normal on-axis with a speaker technique. This short excerpt was recorded with the SM57 sitting on the ground, propped up on a guitar stand aiming towards the 2X12, about 6” away from the cab. This is channel 4 on the Diezel and it was pretty loud for my little studio. The only effects are the G-Force providing a little reverb and delay. The first lick is a Cool Rails neck and then I switch to the bridge for the rest… Enjoy.

Good tone man, I really liked the sound. You call it rubbish but I like those really long sustained, wind blowing your hair on a cliff overlooking the grand canyon while playing guitar, leads

Thanks a lot bro.. don't get me wrong, that was probably one of the most expressive lead tones I've recorded in a while. I was just surprised that the best sounding clip had the mic sitting on the floor! Music can be funny stuff!

Sounds like a great amp. Plug that thing into a 4-12 or 2 in a rehearsal space, and crank it up, and that thing will blow you away. Like you know, that 100-120 watts doesn't like being cooped up!
