Re: Differences between the Bill Lawrence L500 models?
From my experience, they are almost identical in sound and any difference between different models is likely due to the guitar and not the pickup (L500s are insanely transparent). I've heard at least five vastly different tonal descriptions of the XL alone. What I've found is that the C is the quietest, the R is louder, the L is even louder, and the XL is the loudest. The C and R are often used in the neck to pair with the L and XL.
None of them are even close to a P.A.F., regardless of the inductance readings. We must not forget that all technical figures are irrelevant when it comes to describing Bill Lawrence pickups.
