Dimarzio's scare me, but

Re: Dimarzio's scare me, but

I installed the Norton and have been playing with it for a while now. I love the basic tone and harmonics. Unfortunately in this guitar it is a little thin. Note definition is great, but bass is lacking a bit in this bassswood RG.

I really do like the upper range, but I need a bit fuller tone. Dimarzio reccommend the SD or TZ. The said the SD will keep the tone a string defintion but add to the bass. What say you?

Re: Dimarzio's scare me, but

I would have thought this would be a good spot to try a AT-1, but I've never used one. Maybe Ed or someone who has can comment.

Re: Dimarzio's scare me, but

'DiMarzio's scare' you? Were you frightened by one as a child? Did it chase you around the block?

Re: Dimarzio's scare me, but

Duncans have absolutely no place in Ibanez guitars :approve:

Pfft. Who wants an Ibanez anyway? I can't think of anyone I like that plays an Ibanez*.
Does Jeff Beck? I don't think so.

Re: Dimarzio's scare me, but

Seymour Duncan=warm, comfortable, your friendly uncle giving you helpful tone advice.

DiMarzio=vicious, cold, your spike-haired, death-metal-playing cousin trying to kill kittens and make you deaf.

Hope this helps.

???

Duncans can do anything, as can DiMarzios.
Is Dave Murray's DiMarzio lead tone "cold"? Is Karl Sanders Invader rythm tone warm and comfortable?

I bet your irony-impairment would improve if you stopped playing DiMarzios. Try it. Or try to stop taking people so literally. Whichever.

Yeah, I tried a Norton in my Ibanez and didn't care for it. It completely rocked in my Epi LP Ultra II I had at the time. My Ibanez has a Floyd, which may explain it. The AT-1 was very good in there. I had a ToneZone in it for the longest time - the AirZone was everything I wanted it to be though.

although some of the names and bands on there look as if they are giving endorsements out to anyone that can book a gig down at the Ramada on the interstate.

Re: Dimarzio's scare me, but

No pickup company scares me. I prefer vintage style pickups, and Duncan does that as well as or better than most other companies. There are some Dimarzio pickups that interest me, but they would have to in a particular guitar.

There's a guy on that list called VAN ALEN.

I think the only one on that whole list that's done anything I listen to recently is Jack Owen of Deicide and I think of him playing that red Moser, not an Ibanez.

Yeah Ibanez is only for Metal shredders like Pat Metheny, George Bensen, and John Scofield.

Thankya thankya. :)

Haha :)

I think those multi-coloured RGs look like great guitars, it was just when I started thinking about it, I genuinely can't think of anyone I really listen to that uses an Ibanez. They all seem to use Gibson, Jackson or ESP.

and they're only playing ESPs because Kramer snorted all the profits. :eyecrazy:
